Sweet Paws Rescue - I wouldn't recommend this rescue. Their adoption events are chaos, if you're interested in a dog you know is a good fit for your dog & your household they act like they know your dog better than you. They push you to adopt dogs who need thousands of dollars in vet care you're responsible for & that way they can take their $550 adoption fee and pocket it because it hasn't got to the vet care the dog they're pushing you towards needs and really should get before being adopted. Having voluteered for a rescue for 6 years I've never seen a rescue run like this.
There are much better rescues in new england and I would encourage anyone who's applying at sweet paws only because of a specific dog to wait because it will take as little as 2 weeks before you find one similar that you'll get a lot faster than through this organization. I have a feeling it was my adoption coordinator who ruined the experience for us- she wanted to be right and her ego played a huge role in our negative experience.
I think for the most part they have good intentions but God help you if you get Mary as your coordinator. And a word of advice, if you have a dog already don't share much Info because anything you share about your dog will be taken and twisted so when a dog comes available that you're interested in and excited about they take what you shared about your dog and twist it to make it so they can tell you your can't adopt that particular dog.
What really blew my mind was we asked about a specific dog and we were told she wasn't available because she was on hold for an adoption event. NOT that she had potential adopters but so she could be brought to one of their disorganized adoption events.
Logic dictates if you have an approved adopter who is interested in a specific dog that would be a perfect fit with your dog, do everything in your power to let to potential adopter meet the dog and intro their dog to the available dog. But no that's not how they operate.
Absolutely asinine.
