Sustainable Hudson Valley has been a key partner of the City of Kingston and the Climate Smart Kingston Commission for years, partnering on Solarize campaigns, hosting Kingston Repair Cafe's and Refrigerant Drives, Hudson Valley Climate Solutions Week, and with the planning for the Reuse Innovation Center. Their drive and dedication to all things sustainable in the Hudson Valley is poignant, timely and necessary. They are a key lynchpin to making sure the Hudson Valley and it's residents are keeping up with the Energy Transition and the constantly changing climate and state of affairs. They are innovative and relevant but most importantly, a household name that embodies the critical action needed in this region.

Mission: Sustainable Hudson Valley's mission is to speed up the shift to a low-carbon economy with high quality of life for all. We educate, inspire, and organize through planning and technical assistance, creative lifestyle campaigns, policy, and education.

Programs: Solarize hudson valley - a 3 year program making it easier and more affordable for households and small businesses to go solar. Part of catskill mountainkeepers exciting renewableny program with funding from nyserdas cleaner, greener communities program. In 2015, we helped 183 homes and businesses go solar in kingston, woodstock, rosendale, warwick, goshen and beacon, for more than 1. 5 mw of new solar power. Spring 2016 partners are saugerties, nyack and northern dutchess. We are currently accepting applications for community partners for the summer-fall wave, which begins july 1, 2016.
other programming - we help communities, public agencies and civic organizations to accelerate their efforts for reduced environmental footprint and greater economic prosperity, by forming and supporting coalitions with training, technical assistance, and ongoing, flexible assistance. We design our projects to inspire commitment and creativity by identifying stretch goals and creating strategies to achieve them. In keeping with our belief that people-power is the under-utilized secret ingredient in sustainable development, we focus less on policy and more on action-oriented education, events and projects that demonstrate new possibilities.
