Susie Q’s Kids brings comfort to children in need by providing specially curated comfort bags. As Smile Makers, they deliver essentials such as panda bears, blankets, socks, and hygiene, sensory, and grief kits. These comfort bags reach children in hospitals, hospices, shelters, foster care, advocacy and grief centers, autism centers, schools, camps, and even sheriff departments—anywhere support is needed.

We’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Dr. Mary and the wonderful team at Susie Q Kids. Their generosity has made a meaningful impact on our grief support program. Susie Q Kids recently donated bags filled with thoughtful items for our grieving families, and it’s been heartwarming to see the smiles they bring to the children’s faces.

When children come to our grief center, they often arrive feeling sad, anxious, and overwhelmed. The comfort items in these bags offer relief and a sense of calm, making a difficult time just a little bit easier.

Susie Q's Kids has come alongside us here at Grace Centers of Hope so many times with incredible donations for the men, women, and children in our programs. They have brought us food, new socks, stuffed animals, toiletries, and so much more. Their help is crucial in allowing us to be able to continue to provide the services and shelter needed by or residents.

Susie Q's Kids Inc donated 80 bags to the Children's Program at Turning Point Shelter. These bags are filled with personal need items, stickers, activity books, crayons, card games, a stuffed bear and a cozy blanket. These bags are given to the children when they enter shelter as a "Welcome Bag". These bags always bring a smile to the children's face and it offers some comfort.

Clinton Valley Kiwanis has collaborated, and continues to collaborate, with President Mary Welsh and Susie Q's Kids on connecting local service organizations to increase our impact in the community. Their signature Comfort Bags for children in crisis are distributed to hospitals, the police, firefighters, and other first responders to keep on hand for children in need. This service is truly a ministry to the broken to help mend hearts.

We love volunteering to make the comfort bags for distribution. We help on the 2nd Monday of the month 6 pm at Sterling Heights Lions Club

I've attended a comfort-bag stuffing, I got to see how many people in the community truly love and care about the kids they serve!

The community was lively and their was a full-bodied feeling of charity abounding in the room. Everyone was happy to see each other and to serve. The other Non-Profits Suzie Q's kids aided that day were thrilled to be in the space, and commented endlessly on how much the kids would love getting these bags!

Susie Q's Kids helps further the mission of so many different nonprofits, engages Kids in Helping Kids, instills hope and healing, and comforts Kids in Need in hospitals, hospice, shelters foster care, advocacy centers. Autism centers, grief centers, youth groups. Schools, and where there are kids in need.

After personally experiencing the loss of my father at age 14, I can attest to the power behind the four aspects of positive reflection: remembering, reflecting, recreating, and relating. Additionally, I am confident that receiving a comfort bag will assure a child that they are not alone during a devastating time in their lives and that there is hope for their future, and that joy is on their horizon. Children should never have to experience the loss of a loved one, let alone bear the pain of that loss alone. I would encourage everyone who knows a child that has lost someone to take advantage of giving them Susie Q’s Kids, “My Special Angel” book, and the “One Bag at a Time,” to help them begin the process of grieving and help them find healing and joy again.

Susie Q's Kids is a wonderful nonprofit organization that provides comfort bags for children in need. The kids could be hospitalized or suffering from grief from the loss of a loved one, amongst other concerns.
The founders of this organization, Mary and Joe, lost their daughter to an illness over 4 years ago. Out of that grief they created a vehicle to help children, whom their daughter loved very much.

Susie Qs is an awesome non-profit that provides bags that have essential and comfort items for children that are in need through foster care, medical, grief, hospital and shelter care. Not only do these bags provide hygiene items for personal care but also comfort and activity items to keep the children engaged. I have been a board member since this non profit was formed. While I may not be able to be present at many of the events where the bags are given to the recipients I have been involved in the creation of them. The thoughtfulness that goes in to each bag and the ability to customize the bag for the specific need of the organization receiving them is simply wonderful. We know that our bags will not change the situation the individual is going through, but we hope it shows that they are not alone, they are worthy, and are loved.

I am working with Susie Q's Kids in an advisory capacity. I assisted in the early stages volunteering to make bags and so excited to see the out pouring of responses and love from children and families who have been recipients of these heart warming bags of love.

Susie Q's Kids makes and distributes free comfort bags for children in foster care, shelters, hospitals, and those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. These bags send the message to the child that someone cares about them, and they are not alone. Each bag contains a stuffed animal and blanket for comfort and items for fun activities, such as coloring books and Matchbox cars.
As a former foster child myself, I can tell you that it would have meant a lot to me to have received such a gift. I believe it gives the children a ray of sunshine in an otherwise bleak time in their lives, and thus extends hope. Susie Q's Kids is a nonprofit that makes a positive difference in hurting children, and I can't think of a more worthy cause.

Susie Qs Kids is a passionate outreach of Dr. Mary Welsh. This non-profit provides comfort and encouragement to children struggling with various life challenges through their Comfort Bags. It's important for kids to feel seen and loved all the time. How much more when they're dealing with an illness, are in foster care, in a homeless shelter, etc. Susie Qs Kids supplies that vital need.

Suzie Q’s Kids is a truly special organization. They give kids Love in a bag. They let them know that there is someone out there thinking of them. These backpacks they receive are wonderful. They are full of goodies as well as things they may need (socks, gloves, etc). It also has drawing items for fun and to express themselves. Some children who have had a loss or a tragedy my not be able to verbalize their feelings but they maybe able to draw pictures. There are also fun items and games. As I said earlier it is Love in a bag. They provide these backpacks to hospitals, foster care, shelters. Where ever there is a child in need they try to be there. They also customize the bags for the locations they are going to. To make them age appropriate as well as specific things to help the child in their current situation. love in a bag.

Very helpful and great items for the kids. Sometimes kids don’t have the necessary or essentials items when moving in the foster care system and if Susie Qs kids can help ease the worry of the child then it is worth it.
