The mission statement of Susan Odell Taylor School says it will provide "an education of academic excellence within a nurturing environment, where students are empowered to become knowledgeable, productive, responsible citizens." I started to bring my therapy dog to school once a week in November of 2012. The faculty started this program by having my wife and I speak to all the students, faculty and staff to explain how a therapy dog can have a positive on young readers. Since that time we have had the opportunity to be part of a special school, working with first and second graders. Taylor School truly meets and exceeds their mission statement on a daily basis.
