Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Homeless & Housing, Homeless Centers, Homeless Shelters, Human Services, Job Training

Mission: Sunshine Rescue Mission provides a hand up and out of hunger and homelessness through Christ-inspired provision of meals, shelter, healing recovery and transitional housing. Motto: Rescue, Restore, Re-Engage

Results: This Flagstaff institution has provided food and shelter to homeless men, women and children in Flagstaff since 1957. We currently house 150 to 200 men, women and children every night and feed 300+ meals everyday of the week. We also provide transitional housing, job training, addiction recovery support, clothing, case management and so much more. After 65 years we have learned that solving homelessness is about relationships. It takes a human-to-human, heart-to-heart connection. We welcome people into a caring Christ-centered community and provide free resources and support to address the abuse, trauma, isolation, mental illness and addiction that led to their homelessness in the first place. Although we are a faith based organization, faith is not a requirement for food, shelter, clothing and case management services. We serve everyone in need.

What a blessing Sunshine Rescue Mission and Hope Cottage are to the homeless in the Flagstaff area! They provide much more than emergency food and housing, as they seek to bring life transformation through sharing the love of Christ and lending a hand up to those in need. This is a great place to invest charity dollars. Karol B.

I served on the Board for a year and have spent the past almost 8 years serving at Hope Cottage. This is a wonderful organization that takes seriously their role in serving ALL who come through the doors (virtual, as well as literal) of our various campuses. I have seen God move MOUNTAINS of addiction, pain, loss, opposition and so on for the Guests, Donors, Volunteers and Employees of Sunshine Rescue Mission and Hope Cottage. I am HOOKED on being part of this expression of God's Kingdom right here in Flagstaff!

Presence Community Church works with Sunshine Rescue Missions and continues to support this amazing organization. SRM does an amazing job of touching people in stages of life that can easily be forgotten or neglected. They are such a link between the church and the city in bringing those people in and working with them toward restoration. It's incredible to see some of the lives that have been transformed and reintegrated in the community to help others. We are committed to continue to support SRM as they reach people in need of hope and rescue. I encourage anyone who has the desire to help, to link up with this organization so we can continue to change our community for God's glory.

I have supported Sunshine Rescue Mission and Hope Cottage for many years. This ministry helps fill gaps in our community regarding food and housing, protection of guests, job skill development, support, and healing.
The staff and volunteers at SRM and Hope Cottage truly care about people from all walks of life, and welcome those who need help. This is not just a stopgap organization; there are many ways in which men and women can grow and learn. The Thrift Store is a great example of this. The store is staffed with men and women from the Mission, and sales provide revenue for SRM. It's an important piece in equipping people with job skills, a sense of purpose, and success in the work force.
This is a Christian ministry, and those who stay receive love, teaching about God's goodness, and the hope He gives. The stories coming from the guests are remarkable--lives transformed, restoration and healing. Flagstaff is a stronger community because of SRM and Hope Cottage.

This organization is truly the face of God. They strive to transition women and children back into the community. Throughout the process they shelter, counsel and feed each resident. The facility is very clean and the staff treats everyone with dignity and respect. I am proud to be able to serve there when I can. May God continue to bless each of your for your wonderful service.

The Sunshine Rescue Mission has been truely God sent for me to help get me off of the streets and back into a relationship with my Lord and Savior! Sometimes I wonder if they truely know how much they have helped me already and continue to help me. They are such a great whitness of Gods love and compassion. May the Lord bless all those who have a part in SRM both on this side of eternity and the next!
