Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: Sunshine house, inc. Is a diverse community service organization whose purpose is to achieve the full participation in society of individuals with special needs. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and services tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
Programs: Work services provided training and employment for 66 individuals in 2014. Training and employment is provided both at sunshine house, inc. And in the community. Over $128,000 was paid in wages to individuals with disabilities in 2014. Over 172 new trainings took place in 2014, which is when an individual is taught a new job or skill. We continue to work on community placements with division of vocational rehabilitation in our area. In addition to training and work, other life skills are taught and provided. Community activities are provided to assist people in participating in all our community has to offer.
personal care services were provided to 28 individuals in this program in 2014. Instruction and support is provided in the necessities of daily living. Individuals are given the choice of what supports they are interested in or what they would like to participate in. In addition to the daily living assistance and training, we provide learning activities, recreational activities, exercise, music and arts and introduction to work.
sunshine house inc. Provides 5 fixed routes for pick up in the mornings and drop offs in the afternoon. Individuals are provided door to door service. The buses are equipped with lifts and all necessary safety features. Drivers are cdl certified and are tested and trained regularly. Transportation to off premises work sites is also provided for mobile work crews and job placements. Over 80,000 miles were driven in 2014.
