Hello all,
My Dad raised all 5 of us with Republican beliefs. He believed in hard work, ethics and above all, that "all people are created equal...so don't ever let anyone tell you any different." My dad was extremely successful lawyer/ served as Chair and Member of the Board of Trustees at a University where many us attended are undergrad educations.
As successful as he was, w=he went to a Catholic Mass every morning of his life before work. He said that from being a Managing Partner of a 'Big 10' Law firm, he saw some of the 240+ lawyers "lose their ethics."
As an adult, I feel very confused because this organization says that Civil Rights is one of their tenants that help drive their cause and action.
However, from my research, I looked-up the Founding Father's and U.S. Government's definition for Civil Rights:
"The HHS Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, religion, and sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity) by certain health care and human services entities."
Anyway, my dad is now deceased. However, when Roe vs. Wade was overturned it seems that the judges decision and even power to do it is inconsistent with the Civil Rights Law.
Anyway, I find all of this confusing??
Students for Life of America is, in my humble opinion, the single most effective organization in the pro-life movement when it comes to energizing the grassroots level. In light of the fact that 45% of all abortions are obtained by college-age women, one can see that by working with college students SFLA focuses its efforts on a crucial demographic in the struggle for life. SFLA is the ultimate pro-life information resource, & to my knowledge one of the only organizations that works extensively in cooperation with other non-profits in a genuine effort to unify the movement. They are currently serving nearly 500 groups on various college campuses across the country, so their influence & impact are truly nationwide.
As President of my campus Students for Life, I had the chance to experience firsthand the work that SFLA does. They provided invaluable support to our club: calling us about local events, visiting to help us plan, sending us supplies, and speaking at events. This networking helped us especially because we are a small group at a sometimes unsupportive public school. By far their greatest help occurs annually at their Conference, which always inspires our upcoming leaders. I can hardly think of a better organization to which you can give!
I have donated to the great cause of SFLA for about 4 years now after my daughter told me about the SFLA group on her college campus. I like their website, it's easy to navigate and always up to date. It's even in my favorites list! But the best thing I like about SFLA is the very important cause they fight for each day, saving babies. I have never been able to donate much, but I like to think that the few dollars I am able to give will will help save LIFE.
I interned with SFLA for 3 weeks in the summer of 2009 and from firsthand experience I can tell you that the money does not go to waste. I was a pro-life student leader at Baylor Bears For Life and I have also been on the receiving end of their campus outreach. Seeing how they do things from the top down gives me great hope that they will continue to reach out to students and positively impact the nation's colleges and universities.
I've been pro-life since I can remember, but I never knew how to take my passion and turn it into action. Students for Life of America (SFLA) helped my campus and I find the resources and information we needed to help educate our community about abortion. They have gone out of their way to make sure my group is working to the best of its ability. William Carey Students for Life is very thankful for SFLA.
This is one of the very best organizations in the nation. It has terrific leadership and does tremendous work with college students. Students for Life is both the finest pro-life group AND one of the most effective in working with young people. I am honored to support this group with volunteer time and donations.
