Mission: Strong hearted native women's' coalition, inc (hereunder will be referred to as: shnwc)was founded in 2005, pursuant to the general non-profit corporation law of the state of california. The primary purpose of the shnwc is to create appropriate tribal resolutions to assist in identifying and mediating the essential changes needed to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault to native american women, their families, and their communities, from the nine indian reservations, in accordance with the policies determined by its members. The strong hearted native womens coalition, inc. , by honoring our women ancestors, will advocate for women and their families by promoting safety and a traditional non-violent lifestyle. Working towards empowering women with the tools for independence, courage, and a strong direction to make healthy life choices for herself, her children, and family. Programs: Since the inception of strong hearted native women coalition inc. In 2005, the indian nation have created awareness and vigilance with regard to domestic violence in her community. Program are in place to curb both domestic violence and abuse against native women in the community. With the help of department of justice, office of violence against women-ovw, shnwc have come a long way in stemming domestic violence against native indian women in the community.
its not often we in southern california have access to a service that protects native women from domestic violence and sexual assault.
