Mission: Strive foundation's primary mission is to provide exemplary academic and guidance to children, youth and their families in the watts community of los angeles. The strive foundation provides education, support and development in reading, writing and english literacy; math and cognitive skills; computer and information literacy; culinary and arts; protege resources; development of the moral, creative and entrepreneurial spirit.

Results: The following reflect the progress our students have made from September 2018 (Pre-test) to December 2018 (Mid-year test). We use our assessments to track the academic advancement of our students and align the data with how well we’re able to meet our objectives. In just four short months, our students have made great scholastic headway. We calculate students’ progress after every assessment (3 times per academic year). - There has been a 24% decrease in students who scored 59% or below (Far Below Proficient ‘F’) - There has been a 13% increase in students who scored higher than 65% (Below Proficient ‘D’) - 8% of the students at Strive are considered grade level (Meets Grade Level Proficiency ‘C’) - There has been a 5% increase of students considered to be proficient (Proficient ‘B’) - There has been a 1% increase of students considered to be advanced (Advanced Proficient ‘A’) - There has been an overall 17% increase of students scoring higher on their tests

Target demographics: Our narrow goal is to help students reach grade level proficiency in Mathematics and English Language Arts, while challenging those who are proficient. The ultimate objective is to raise healthy and hardworking individuals, who take responsibility for their actions and don't let their lives be determined by external circumstances.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Last year, we had over 170 students enrolled and a daily attendance of 150, with 50 on our wait list. Within the walls of Strive, all our students were able to develop relationships and social skills in a safe band of academically ambitious peers and trusted adults all while focusing on bettering their education and eventually become the adults that our society ultimately calls for.

Geographic areas served: We operate Monday through Friday, 2:00-6:30 pm, in Green Meadows; a division in the Watts community of South LA. Strive is a mini campus for inner city children offering dynamic formal classroom instruction as well as individualized tutoring, small group workshops, and student/parent guidance resources - all by a staff of credentialed lead teachers.

Programs: The strive foundation provides for an academy-learning environment; and, from a character-is-paramount perspective, the strive foundation helps children achieve reading, writing, english-language fluency and math skills proficiency in their grade level. Strive's mission is to provide a sanctuary of instructor, guidance & resources that better equip children to navigate through the problems they face in their challenging communitiy of watts and beyond. Strive serves approximately 140 students daily. In 2019, we are amidst program and facility expansion.

As someone who's volunteered at Strive, I can honestly say that my time spent here was a wonderful experience. The staff and teachers are all on board with one goal in mind: Prepare these kids for a wonderful life. They focus on academics and have a formal classroom setting, but it's so much more than math & language arts - it's about helping students become the best that they can be AKA Strive for greatness! Their affirmation: "Don't let your circumstances define you" really struck a cord with me. I wish I had learned that lesson as a kid! They really do great work in the South LA community, the families and students are overall wonderful. Keep up the great work Strive! Thank you!

I've seen first-hand the incredible results that Strive has produced. They do so much for not only students, but the community as a whole. They offer so many outlets that these kids and families so desperately need - Girl Scouts with a STEM program, Youth Entrepreneurs, Teen Night, ESL classes for the parents/families and more! The teachers and staff put so much time and energy into this program, the community is beyond lucky to have you all. Thank you, Strive!
