Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: We receive animals (primarily dogs) that are abandoned. These animals are then checked by a veterinarian. All vaccinations are given, animals are neutered & groomed. Any broken bones are set in cast until they are mended, all cuts, scrapes& abrasions are treated. We do everything possible to bring the animal up to their best health & then they are "adopted" to owners who will provide a good home for these animals.

Straydog helps other dogs that no one else will. The staff is great - they truly love the dogs as if they were members of their own family.

Straydog is an amazing sanctuary whose focus is totally on the welfare of each and every dog in their care. The employees are passionate and go above and beyond their daily responsibilities- they love on these pups as if they were their own. Straydog financials are reviewed and audited. Every donated cent is used for the care of the animal’s for food, shelter and medical care. The facility is amazing with large dog runs, special housing for old and special needs dog’s, a large park with trees and water pools, and another small park for ‘the littles ’ with trees and a picnic table.

I have supported Straydog for 22 years. They are a wonderful no-kill rescue and sanctuary in east Texas. Wlmy husband and i have adopted 8 dogs from them and they have all been wonderful, sweet and loving.

The dogs at Straydog are treated like family. They are loved and cherished by the staff. The shelter director is simply the heart and soul of the organization. She treats and loves all of the dogs as if they were her own. If only every shelter was like Straydog.

This organization is a blessing to the many homeless and abandoned dogs rescued in their community. With the dedicated staff and work of the board and volunteers, Straydog is able to fund great shelter, care and medical needs for their 160 residents. Additionally, great effort is made to promote the organization and find loving families for adoptable residents weekly in the DFW area. I have seen first hand as a donor, volunteer and consultant the time invested around the clock by all. This organization has true need, does not have deep pockets for marketing/advertising and is not privately funded.

Straydog does amazing work saving and caring for animals that otherwise would have no where else to go. They take in animals that others have abandoned. They find homes for as many as they can, and provide a sanctuary for those dogs that cannot be re-homed. The staff devotes all of their time and energy into caring for the animals, and you can tell that their hearts are truly in it for the dogs.

I have been a financial contributor to this no-kill animal shelter for many years due to the quality and dedication of their mission of rehabilitating and placing animals in "forever homes". Their website at straydog.org provides all the information one would need. In my opinion, a real bunch of heroes whose dedication comes from their genuine love of dogs.
