Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education

Mission: The organization is dedicated to addressing educational inequities by providing and enabling access to the tools and resources necessary to support teachers and enhance a student's ability to learn and succeed.

Programs: The organization's approach to addressing educational inequities is pragmatic and results-driven, as best exemplified by the organization's core program, in addition to a number of new programs designed in conjunction with corporations, associations, and other nonprofit organizations. The core program of the organization, the school and classroom supplies initiative, provides school and classroom supplies, at no cost, to eligible schools in the organization's six county service area. The fundamental criterion for eligibility is that a school must demonstrate that at least 70% of the student body qualifies for the national school lunch program. Schools primarily serving grades k-12 are chosen annually through an application process. The organization is committed to utilizing a fair and unbiased process when choosing partners annually for the organization's school and classroom supply initiative. Teachers from participating schools may come to the organization's resource center, located in pittsburgh, three times during the school year to secure supplies for themselves and their students from a wide array of materials. An annual in-school distribution of materials to students and teachers is also held during the school year. Pencils, crayons, notebooks, and binders are some of the most critically needed items.

I volunteer often at The Education Partnership. I have counted supplies, wrapped pallets of product, painted radiators, help teachers check-out during distribution dates, checked-in guests for events, handed out school kits during school distributions, organize files….

When I am going to volunteer, it puts a smile on my face. This is an awesome organization that puts their heart and soul into the mission.

The best rewards for me has been reading the student thank-you notes (some get me teary-eyed) and meeting teachers on distribution dates. Watch the videos….

Educating our youth is a top priority and every child deserves the chance for success.

I have been hearing about the unfolding of this organization for several years. The vision of a few ppl to help the teachers of our city and therefore help the children of our city has been a wonderful journey to watch. The doors are to officially open next week and finally start offering this gift to our teachers who on a daily basis give many gifts to their students. Today I volunteered. While I was there, there were many different ppl with many different backgrounds, all with a common goal.... to help this organization help others. What a wonderful way to come together as a community, to help our community!
