I am so grateful to have Stickhouse in our community. I’m a donor now but I learned about Stickhouse when I was looking for help for a little pigeon I had found. They took the baby bird and expertly cared for her until she was able to be released and I knew I wanted to support them in any way I could. Since that first pigeon, I have taken many other sick, injured and baby birds to them. Besides the birds, they have raised and released squirrels, tiny baby mice, rabbits and even orphaned little skunks (affectionately called “stinkies”). They save hundreds of lives every year. I have supported a number of other charities, most of them animal centered, but Stickhouse is the absolute best.
I just recently started volunteering at Stick House Sanctuary. It is truly an honor to work beside such loving and compassionate people who care, not only for our wildlife but all creatures. Not only do they rehabilitate and release, the sanctuary is also home to those animals who will never be able to survive in the wild due to the extent of their injuries. They offer Open house events for all-especially children. Public education events with topics such as bees and bats for all to learn about the importance of a balanced ecosystem and what we can do as the stewards of this earth to live in harmony and with respect to all creatures. They are a pure blessing and we in El Paso are so lucky to have this lovely sanctuary and these beautiful people.
I have found the perfect sanctuary for protecting, rehabbing, & the public education about the care for small mammals and birds! The physical care given to one and all is superior and so filled with love that you are driven to be part of it. The willingness to share knowledge and teach one and all through online tutorials, volunteer Wednesdays, and open houses gives everyone a chance for understanding how to be better guardians for our fellow creatures. I know that not a penny of what is donated isn't stretched to it's limit and the gratitude for what is received from the "Amazon Shopping List" is ego stroking. Thank you Julie and Jamie for your tireless example of stewardship for our planet.
I started volunteering here in October 2018, and have continued to volunteer here! The sanctuary is run by amazing passionate people, who very clearly care about all life (small and large). They also take every opportunity to educate the community (young and old). They will often hold events in which the public can come and learn about various topics. For example: there was a bee event where bee keepers came in to talk about the importance of bees.
Stick House Sanctuary is an amazing place, and I'm happy and willing to volunteer here, because not only are they lovely people, but they are doing lovely work! The wildlife in the area belongs here, and must be preserved. Keep being awesome and helping life thrive!
