The organization links the identified needs of the community to the economic development resources available through public and private institutions that specialize in economic and business assistance. The mission is accomplished through identifying the economic development needs of the communities and business organizations in the county, priortizing the needs of each group with the needs of the county based on a consensus of opinion from the board of directors, and carrying out the policy decisions of the board of directors.
Programs: Sceic, inc administers a county-wide revolving loan fund that is primarily funded by loans from the usda, rural development, intermediary relending program and by donations from a local for profit development corporation. This loan program provides "gap financing" for existing and start- up businesses that obligate themselves to hiring 30% of new employees from low to moderate income individuals and farm families. The sceic, inc. Board of directors and staff use usda rural development, irp program rules, and regulations to administer the revolving loan fund.
