About 3 years ago I helped foster five puppies for SSKF. They were great making sure my foster experience was successful and fun. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to foster again for personal reasons.
SSKF go over and beyond to rescue dogs and puppies in need. They are genuinely concerned in getting the dogs and puppies first of all the medical they need. If they get a dog who needs medical treatment they do it right away! Every dog that comes to them gets all the medical care they may need. When they go to their perspective forever home they are medically sound at time and have all their yearly shots and have been altered.
Everyone that helps at the foster knows what job they need to do to get these fur babies into their forever home. They are the best and they LOVE what they are doing for all the unwanted pups, because in the end they know it’s their labor of love that is going to get these pups into their forever home.
I’ve been following them on FB for awhile, haven’t adopted (yet), but we did donate $300 for Hank’s surgery a few weeks ago. They were so kind, keeping me updated with texts, pictures, videos, and calls. This group is as legit as they come! I appreciate all they do for these fur babies. I’ll continue to help them and I hope you will too. :)
I adopted my fur baby from this rescue. Everyone was so kind and they really worked with me over the span of a few weeks to find the perfect fit for my home and needs. Alfie is so happy and he makes me so happy! I can tell that he was loved before he came home with me in his foster home!
This group are all 100% volunteers who go the extra mile. The group started about 6 years ago and I personally know Chrissy Stamper the President and Vickie Watson Jacobs who co-ordinates all of the adoptions, does all the emails and keeps everyone informed throughout the whole process. They always get the momma fixed even if owner keeps the mom. They actually do the vet reference and physical home check to ensure the puppies go to right home. I also know Susan Woodford Linden who helps with the many dog and puppy transportations that they all have to do frequently. This is a great great group that deserves all the support and donations that it can get!
We adopted our Milo (a.k.a. Kodi) from Stepping Stones Canine Fosters a couple of months ago. We enjoyed working with John and Chrissy. They genuinely love and want the best for each animal in their care. All of their dogs are healthy and clean, up to date on all shots, etc; just very well cared for, overall. We would definitely adopt from Stepping Stones, again.
This rescue group is the absolute the best! It is quite clear that they care about the animals and placing these unfortunate souls into a home where they will be loved and cherished. SSCFWV volunteers were responsive, kind, courteous. They had the rescues up to date on vaccines, and spayed. They asked very important questions to make sure that the dogs would be going to a safe and secure environment. Considering the expense that the rescue incurs to get the dogs ready to be adopted, their adoption fee is very reasonable. I would highly recommend Stepping Stones Canine Fosters of WV. It was worth the three hour driver from Roanoke. I would go nowhere else if I ever needed to adopt another pup in the future.
I think Stepping Stones is truly amazing. They definitely put all of their heart and soul into rescuing these animals and to make sure they go to wonderful and loving homes. We adopted Blake”Ryan” this past December and he’s added so much to our lives. We will definitely adopt from Stepping Stones again in the future.
Stepping Stones was incredible and so very comforting when a family member passed unexpectedly earlier this summer. When no one in the family was in a position to adopt my aunt’s two dogs, who she loved very much, Stepping Stones was there. They were so wonderful with both dogs, even though one had a very tough life as a pup and was very distrusting. Thank you, Stepping Stones!
Even though I live in Maryland, my heart belongs to WV. I grew up there and even taught in southern WV. I love following Stepping Stones Canine Fosters because I have a heart for dogs and love to see them get adopted. At some point, I want to adopt when I have more time to devote to the dog. I so appreciate all of their efforts!
Although I've never adopted a dog from Stepping Stones Rescue, I have been donating monthly. I appreciate how very carefully they screen each Candidate and they find the right Family to Foster their dogs until an ADOPTING Family chooses one of their dogs. I appreciate how they carefully screen each Family to make sure the dog will be well cared for, well loved, and happy. They maintain a high level of expectations for each Family and this enables each Adoption to be a happy success. I highly recommend them!!
We were so fortunate to get our wonderful shihtzu, Boomer, from Stepping Stones. They worked with us to match us with a hypoallergenic breed, and the process couldn’t have gone better. Since then, I marvel at the work of this wonderful organization and their tireless efforts to save dogs from unfortunate and even dangerous circumstances. They work hard to find these rescues homes that can be their forever homes. They rehabilitated a wonderful pit bull mix with a broken pelvis. Because they couldn’t find the absolute right home for him, he is now the rescue’s mascot, and is a shining example of what rescue is about. When we have a need to find out next dog, it will only be from Stepping Stones.
Stepping Stones is awesome. We have been fortunate to spend time with these awesome volunteers. We have fostered AND FAILED. Theo quickly became a family member and has had a hand at making other fosters feel comfy and decompress. These people are the somebodies that everybody depends on. There is none better.
The Stepping Stones Canine Foster folks are amazing! I have seen them work powerlessly to take care of animals who are injured or simply need a home. Huge hearts and they care. We appreciate all their great efforts!
I have worked with this organization as a foster volunteer and can absolutely attest to their dedication and determination to provide the best care and placement for the dogs they have rescued. I can’t think of a more worthwhile cause than Stepping Stones.
One text was all it took when a dropped puppy showed up at our house. This team immediately went to work with medical care and searching for a perfect home for her. There was no hesitation at all and they really know what they are doing and care. They act with urgency, compassion, and professionalism. I am so impressed with them!
I was introduced to this organization over a year ago and was so impressed with the individuals running it, that I started fostering for them. The pride and professionalism they take in getting the helpless animals off the street and working with every other organizations to get them healthy and ready for adoption amazed me. Each animals is respected from day one and they go beyond what is necessary to find fosters and permanent homes for these animals. Every foster that I have had with them has been placed in permanent homes. The detail they go through in getting a potential forever home is way beyond anything I’ve ever seen.
If you are interested in a pet please contact this amazing group.
I am very impressed with this organization. They help animals throughout the state of West Virginia. Each animal is treated with kindness and love. They are bathed, given shots, wormed and checked for any type of illness or neglect. Each animal is seen by a vet and spayed or neutered. The people in this organization find appropriate fosters to help these dogs for future adoption. My sister in law adopted from the. The dog has changed her life.
This is a wonderful and very caring group of individuals. They love each and every fur baby they get in. They do a home visit and will call your vet to make sure you are a responsible pet owner which is how it should. We adopted Chance who is a 5 year yorkie who has no teeth due to the breeder reason unknown. He is the sweetest little boy and am thankful the allowed us to adopt this baby.
