Causes: Microfinance, Small Business Development
Mission: Starting block madison conducts a wide array of educational, training, and mentoring activities to support the creation of and growth of start-up companies. Educational programming will be available for starting block members as well as the general public. Programming will focus on issues facing start up companies, social entrepreneurism, helping women, people of color, and students to become successful entrepreneurs, and assisting city and state governmental agencies reach their economic development objectives. Starting block madison will provide some members with workspace for start-up development. Some of the workspace will be exclusive to each member company, but much of the space is designed to allow access to shared resources (such as a tech lab) and to foster creativity and collaboration among members.
Programs: Conducted an event featuring speakers and input for immigrants looking for ways to start up new companies.
planned and conducted the 2017 challenge cup which helps entrepreneurs develop presentations, holds a competition, and allows companies to achieve higher levels of visibility and attract feedback from the audience.
worked with doyenne group to hold programs for women entrepreneurs.
