Mission: Stages theater company (stc) is committed to the enrichment and education of children and youth in a professional theater environment that stimulates artistic excellence and personal growth (see schedule o for continuation of mission statement)
Programs: Theater productions - our annual season of plays inspires audiences with high quality productions of new work, popular musicals and adaptions of beloved children's stories. Our productions feature youth performing with professional adult actors who serve as mentors. We engage some of this community's most respected theater designers, playwrights, directors and technical personnel in the creation of our plays, and we strive for the highest levels of quality in both process and product, placing equal value on the character development of youth through the creative process and the artistic excellence of the finished product presented to audiences. Youth participants develop life skills through their involvement and they also serve as role models for young audience members.
school based outreach - stc's collaborative approach with schools and school districts has led to the design of effective arts integrated program models and standards-based theater curricula. Stc strives to be regarded at the top of their field with regard to best practices and innovative delivery of programming and arts integration in the classroom. Stc's focus on arts and literacy school-based programming positions the organization to effectively address achievement gap and graduation rate issues in fundamental ways. Over 10,000 students throughout minnesota communities benefitted from this program.
education programs - our intensive conservatory program and creative workshops engage youth ages 4-18 in high quality theater arts training programs. In addition to developing their creative abilities, students learn responsibility, self-discipline, perseverance, and self-worth. Stc hires and retains some of the most talented and effective teaching artists in the twin cities. These artists and programs, along with high quality administration and evaluation, make stc the leading provider of education programs for young people ages 2-17 in minnesota. Stc education workshops, community education classes and acting conservatory serves over 12,600 students per year.

Stages Theatre company provides many different resources and opportunities for adults and youth to explore theatre and the impact in their lives. Their unique focus in page to stage production and education programs emphasizes reading and literature as an important part of a child's development. Their programs are designed well to allow youth who simply want to explore the theatre to give it a try and also allow students who want to pursue a career in the theatre opportunity for training and productions. Finally, their partnerships with various schools and school districts allow for school-day theatre programs for many school where the budget doesn't allow a theatre program, making theatre more accessible for all.
