This is a truly amazing organization. Many nonprofit organizations are criticized for lack of efficiency in their spending. SVDP is a dramatic exception to that problem. SVDP Thrift Store has an incredible business model that benefits the community on three levels. First, it employs at-need workers and utilizes community volunteers. That in itself is a big benefit to the local community. But at the same time it is selling gently used merchandise at bargain basement prices ... also to the very community in which it thrives. Finally, through any "profits" it might achieve at the store level, it contributes those funds to the greater SVDP charitable organization. This funding can go towards a wide variety of programs providing direct support of local indigent families. I have been a board member for more 5 years and I am a board member of several other nonprofit organizations; I find no other organization as well focused on its end goals, and as effective at achieving them.
This is one of the Best kept Thrift Stores that I have ever seen. The way the store is merchandised makes it easy to shop and find treasures. The whole Team is committed to helping those in need and a joy to work with!
