Mission: To provide food, clothing, shelter and basic human services to poor and homeless individuals regardless of race, creed, natural origin, criminal history, or recidivism.
Results: Our Soup Kitchen that serves about 81,000 meals annually, or 6,720 per month. We also encourage our guests to engage in a series of healthier, micro-programs. These can lead to improvement in motivation, social relationships and even less substance use and mental health issues. Our Community Assistance Program connects hundreds of people to community support services and emergency funds. People can apply for assistance that may include security deposits, rental assistance, clothing, transportation and identification. Amazing Grace Food Pantry currently provides groceries to about 1,000 families each month. Our backpack program supplies weekend meals to 360 students at 8 city elementary schools, and 150 students in the middle school. We supply two mobile food carts in the high school cafeteria on Fridays where 500, or 41% of the students take home healthy food over the weekend. We operate Case Management Supportive Housing Services for 128 formerly, chronically homeless people with disabilities and mental illness to live successfully in their own apartments at Liberty Commons, Shepherd Home for Veterans and Next Steps scattered site supportive housing in Middletown. Our staff is made up of 13 full-time, 10 part-time employees, and we are fortunate to have the help of hundreds of volunteers. The Board of Directors is a volunteer group of nine people who meet six times a year to oversee the services of the organization. The Soup Kitchen, Community Assistance Program and Amazing Grace Food Pantry rely on community contributions of financial support. Our supportive housing programs are our only programs receiving state funding.
Target demographics: Men, women and children meet immediate needs such as food and shelter. We also refer folks to social services in the community to help overcome their poverty and homelessness.
