Mission: Springstep's mission is to serve as a center to celebrate dance, music, and art from cultures around the world. We strengthen communities by encouraging participation in and appreciation for the arts. We offer shared experiences for people to participate in classes, social dances, gallery exhibits, and community events that nurture creativity, convene people from diverse cultures, and contribute to a healthy society.
Programs: Affiliate cultural programsthrough collaborations with other nonprofit groups, dancers, musicians, and artists we offer a range of programs that promote community participation in dance and music including social and folk dances from cultures around the world, teaching workshops, weekend festivals, and programs that build cultural awareness. We provide our exceptional facility, technical and staff support, and marketing and outreach for these events. During this wind-down year springstep served approximately 2000 members of a dozen different groups.
classesspringstep specializes in dance, fitness, and art classes for adults and youth. We offered three sessions during this wind-down year most of which were drop-in classes. The teachers paid a below market rate to rent the spaces and springstep publicized the classes. A sample of our offerings include: tango, bollywood, belly dancing, hatha yoga, pilates, zumba, music together, creative movement and much more. We strive to keep our class fees affordable to accommodate the socio-economic mix of residents of medford and the abutting communities.
community programswe produced 3 community events in this wind-down year which include seasonal arts festivals, class sampler days, student art shows, and gallery openings and receptions. In addition, we partnered with local human service organizations such as the medford family network on an annual international family festival, a program that builds cultural awareness about the diverse heritages of school-aged children from over 50 countries we also partner with our affiliates who offer intergenerational community dances offering free or low-cost cultural events to the broader community.
