I found Kilo through the Pet finder site and he was being fostered by a gal involved with Spring Branch Rescue.. I spoke with Kali Cabrera, the heroine behind this wonderful rescue, and thankfully she approved me to adopt my Bull Terrier, Kilo or Kiki as I call him. He is the third BT I've owned and they are the absolute best and most sensitive, loving, and hilariously funny breed God ever created!!! Once you get to know one you will never be the same and I pray that people will donate and help any way they can because these beautiful Bullies are so misunderstood!!! Truly they are angels on earth Thank you Kali and the transporters and other adopters, one of whom assisted in getting Kilo to me when I had car trouble!!! God bless!!!!
We adopted a five year old Bully mix from Spring Branch. They coordinated his transport from TX to WA as well as kept up advice and mentoring to us. Our lives have been changed by adding this sweet boy to our lives. Thank you Spring Branch for giving these dogs a second chance!

About a year ago, my family of 4 was looking to add a dog to our family. A long time obsession with the Bluey show had resurrected my husband’s desire to have a cattle dog. I prefer to only rescue mutts so, I took to pet finder and found a group of sweet heeler mixed pups, but they were located in Texas. At first, I was a little cautious of adopting a dog without meeting him/her, And having him transported from out of state. And since it was a litter, there were a few options we were considering. I reached out to the rescue with an adoption application and started a conversation with Kali.
She was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end with our adoption process. She talked to me at great length about the pups, their personalities, our household. She helped us pick the best dog for our family and lifestyle. She also walked me through the adoption and Transportation process. After we chose our pup, we had to wait about a month for him to be ready for transportation. During that time, Kali provided me with pictures and routine updates on the puppies. Our pup just turned one and I can’t express how grateful we are to have him and to have had this experience Anytime a health issue or concern has come up with him, Kali has been a lifeline to me for questions and concerns as a pet parent. She is a gem of a human who truly cares. As a former resident of the southwest, I know how bad the animal homeless crisis is and rescuing our dog from that environment was truly meaningful to me. Everyone I have interacted with the rescue group has been a pleasure to work with. I love spring branch and I’m grateful for their investment in animal rescue.

Springbranchrescue has been so good to me from. The day I first inquired about a pet. I told Kali the one I was looking at and she told me about another one that would fit me really well. I decided to go with the one they said and I can't wait till next Saturday to go pick her up. I'm so excited. Kali must be so busy with all she does for these rescues, but she makes everyone of them her priority. It is obvious how passionate she and the others are about these precious animals. The hoops you have to jump through to adopt a pet from SBR are evidence that they truly care about the whole life of these critters and they do not only care about getting them saved and out the door. I just started fostering for Spring Branch Rescue after YEARS of wanting to foster and it has been such an amazing experience. Kali has a huge heart for all the homeless animals and went above and beyond to help make our first experience fostering such a great process. Kali chose 2 little puppies for our family to foster since we thought that would be a better option for us since we have 3 cats and 2 dogs. She was always checking in with how the puppies were doing and feeling while also making sure we were doing good with adapting to having 2 new puppies in our home. I always felt I could reach out to her at any time and she would be there with advice/help. I had a REALLY hard time letting our little puppies go but after meeting the new families that Kali picked, I felt so much better knowing they were going to the absolute best families. This rescue doesn't just want to run animals through the process just to get paid, they REALLY make sure the animals are well taken care of throughout the whole process with the end game of getting them into AMAZING forever homes. I have been in the animal rescue world for quite a few years now in different capacities and some rescues can be hard to deal with on different levels, but this rescue is honestly top notch. I would recommend them to anybody.

Last year there was a situation where we rescued a mom and her pups and I called Kali and she was right there to help and find the puppies their furever homes. We knew after losing our last two dogs that we wanted to rescue. We tried the shelter first but that did not turn out to be a good experience. We stumbled across Spring Branch Rescue and they have led us to our new furbabies. Kali took the time to get to know us in order to match us with the best dog. Look at those BEAUTIFUL happy faces!!!! Both of them found in horrible conditions. Both extremely afraid of the streets, humans, and other animals. We were patiently waiting to find the right adopter for each one. We wanted someone who could understand everything about each one and to be ready to work with them. To our surprised you adopted BOTH! Your updates makes us very happy. They are loved and cared for every single day. You guys are awesome!
We were looking around to adopt a dog and stumbled onto Spring Branch Rescue. You submit an application online and it asks, out of the dogs listed for adoption, pick the top 5 we are interested in. All their animals are in foster care so you can't just show up and see what dogs you like which I like since the dogs are treated better and get individual care.
Later, Kali reached out and asked a lot of questions to see which dog fit our needs the best. Due to us having a small, low-activity, senior dog, kali recommended a calm senior dog named Holly. We weren't expecting to adopt a senior but after we brought our dog to meet Holly, everything just fell into place. Adoption was smooth and now we have a lovely edition to our family.
Overtime, we did try to help out with fostering other dogs. As new fosters with 2 dogs of our own, it was a challenge but was well worth it. Kali was always ready to give advice and tips to help when we needed it

I knew my little foster very well. LOL Izzy has blossomed and what a treat it is to get your updates. Makes it all worth it for us. We work hard, but our adopters make the difference every day.
Found a pup and spring branch rescue offered to help me sponsor him. They took care of everything and found him a great home. So happy with this rescue, Kali and her team were great and helpful! I had such a great experience with them while I fostered.
Kali was very helpful in easing my anxiety when adopting. She answered all of my questions and even set up time to face time with me so I could see the dog. They really helped us find the perfect fit!
I have boarded several dogs for spring branch rescue. The dogs were always well taken care of and always went to the vet everytime anything came up. Kali the founder is very passionate about all the animals and trys to help as many as they can.
Today is our 1 year anniversary of getting our baby girl Blanche! Kali was so wonderful to work with and made the adoption process seamless. She did the interview on the phone and made sure we were a good fit for Blanche. She had good questions and obviously cared deeply about what kind of home would be best for her. We did a long and detailed application prior to that to describe our home, and that we were good people and dog owners. She put us in touch with the women who drove Blanche from Texas to Oregon, and we were always in the know about where Blanche was. This rescue is wonderful and does such great work. Truly takes a special human to run a rescue and Kali really goes above and beyond to help these babies. Highly recommend!!
I volunteer for Kali as often as I'm able. Kali lives for this rescue and has helped so many animals. She just recently rescued a senior off the streets that they named Maggie ... people were calling Kali because they thought the dog was pregnant. The dog was not pregnant, but it was severe heartworm disease. Maggie didn't make it, but Maggie also wasn't in the street and alone when she passed. Kali has the biggest heart to be there for these animals! Spring Branch has a special treasure in her.
My partner and I were looking to adopt a dog from a shelter or rescue. We found Spring Branch Rescue through adoptapet.com. 2 puppy siblings Ariel and Ronnie needed a forever home. We applied for Ariel but after learning more about Ronnie, we chose him instead.
Kali has been awesome in coordinating the adoption process. She was very responsive to all our questions. Even though she recently took in over a dozen puppies!
The application form was very thorough, I'm glad they are very intent on screening who takes these darlings home to make sure it's a good match.
What I love is how they encourage connecting with the foster families and adopted families through their Facebook. We're part of the group now too.
6month old Ronnie was transported from Texas to Washington state via van. The driver gave us adoptees continuous updates on where they were and how the animals were doing.
When we picked up Ronnie in Seattle, we had our poster board ready. The rescue asks all adoptees to make a poster board with the animals name on it which is Soo sweet.
The only hiccup was with Ronnie's medical paperwork, when he was dropped off with us we only received 1 page of his immunization records, and it took some days for them to send the rest of it. But with 14 puppies in your house it's understandable for the delay! Kali always responded quickly to my calls and messages so it wasn't a big deal.
He was only missing 1 vaccine series, everything else was up to date and hes already microchipped.
It's been 2 weeks with Ronnie and he has adjusted very quickly. We can tell his foster family took very good care of him and he had housetraining and crate experience. The first week he had some potty accidents but i think he was just scared and still adjusting. 2 weeks now he has no problem.

After our older family dog passed away - I searched Petfinder for months… looking at all the many dogs to adopt. I saw Sugarbelly in April 2020…everything about her - and her name- captured me. But I didn’t feel ready and someone else adopted her. Then in September she was back at SBR, listed on Petfinder, and I contacted Kali to inquire. Everything clicked immediately. I appreciate the SBR care-full adoption process. And Sugar was on the next van to me in the PNW. When I say Sugar keeps me loved, sane and laughing… I’m not kidding. SBR, Kali and Sugarbelly her precious self, are on my forever gratitude list. Thank you SBR❤️
Kali is one of the most caring people on this earth and I am forever grateful for her. Without her I would have never had the most perfect dog come into my life. Cookie had many people give up on her, but Kali was never one of them. She takes the time and the love to get to know each of the animals in her organization so that when the animals are ready, she can find them the absolute perfect home. I have witnessed this as an adopter and as a foster for her organization. Thank you Kali for all you do, you really are changing lives.
I remember the first time we saw our Teddy's face on a Petfinder post. I knew from the second I saw him he was meant to be ours. I had a phone call with Kali soon after. What I loved about Kali is she immediately told me all about Teddy, formally known as Johnny Heartthrob. She told me his story, how he was with her dogs and kids, and the things he needed help with. You could tell she cared for him like he was her own and was motivated to find the perfect home for him, not just any home. We picked up Teddy on Valentine's day and I wish I could say it was happily ever after. However, after all the change he had been through he developed a lot of separation anxiety. My husband and I had never dealt with separation anxiety before and felt like we were in over our heads. Kali reached out to us soon after Teddy came to our home to check in and see how things were going. We updated her on our problems and she gave us a lot of helpful advice and encouragement. She continued to check in with us along the way. I was, and still am, blown away with how caring Kali is and the whole Spring Branch Crew. I'll never know how they do what they do but am so grateful for them and the joy they have brought to our family.
A little about my experience with Spring Branch Rescue.... I had learned about a dying dog that was in urgent need of rescue. I volunteered to foster and ultimately find a rescue willing to back him. I had reached out to several rescues, some very large and well known and others well known but not as large, for support. I kept being told that they could not help. When I reached out to Spring Branch Rescue, they immediately said Yes! I later found out that their rescue had been closed for intake, but they committed to helping this very sick dog who would obviously require extensive medical care.
For a small rescue, they have the biggest hearts!
As a first time foster, Spring Branch Rescue has been phenomenal! They have gone above and beyond my expectations of a rescue by helping me with any and everything needed . At first I wasn't sure if I would be able to be good enough to care for the dog because he was so sick and I didn't know anything about how to properly care for him. They gave me the confidence, knowledge, supplies, and everything else needed to help save his life. I will forever be grateful for everything they have done and I am looking forward to continuing to partner with them as a foster in the future ❤️

I had been housing a stray dog for over a month. I tried every avenue that I was aware of to locate the owner. I tried flyers, vets, kennels, multiple websites, etc. to no avail. I was unsuccessful in locating the owner and I could not keep the dog. Also, I do understand the current state of affairs in Houston, however, the SPCA and the city of Houston (BARC) were absolutely of no help. An individual through Facebook told me to reach out to Spring Branch Rescue, so of course, I did immediately. The next day and a few emails exchanged, Kali with Spring Branch Rescue had a valid and honorable connection that would take the dog immediately. I was thrilled and had a wonderful meeting with the individual. I left knowing that the little guy was in good hands. I commend and am very thankful to Kali and Spring Branch Rescue for their work.
When our order dog died, our younger dog was very sad and depressed. This group worked with us to find the right rescue dog to be our dog companion. They make sure our house was right for the dog and the dogs got along before committing. They do an excellent job for the welfare of the dogs on the community and the dogs under their care.
This is an incredible group in action to help those without voice. A big heath to rescue and support abandoned, abused and surrendered animals in need. Always prompt to respond and rescue. Thank you Spring Branch Rescue

The people behind this rescue are extremely dedicated to their jobs and to the animals they help relocate. I not only got my pet dog from them, but anytime a friend asks what they should do with an animal they found or can’t care for, I refer them to this rescue, and they are taken care of each time. I learned about Spring Branch Rescue when I was looking to adopt a new dog. I met Kali when she brought Dottie to my house for our first meet and greet. Kali was wonderful to work with and really wanted to make sure that Dottie was the right fit for my home. The first visit went well but I wanted a second one just to be sure. Kali said no problem. The second visit went very well and I ended up adopting Dottie and she has been a great addition to my fur family. Dottie was found abandoned in a field with her siblings, and from what Kali said they were not in very good shape. Kali and her team took them in and got them healthy and found them homes, but not just a home, the right home. Kali and her team of volunteers have rescued so many animals even when she is full to the brim with animals she finds a way to take more in and help them. Spring Branch Rescue does a fantastic job helping hundreds of animals annually. They absolutely deserve to be recognized for their contributions to helping the animals.
Lilly came to us from Spring Brach Rescue and we couldn’t fill like they could have made a better match! Kali and crew did an incredible job in talking with us to make sure that she was the perfect fit for our family - and from the day she got to us we couldn’t be happier!

A couple of months back I found a stray who we were willing to foster. The rescue worked with us to have him neutered and eventually adopted out. It was our first time fostering but Kali provided us with a lot of guidance and advise. Now we're happy to see our former stray living the life with his new family.
I contacted them about Rob and they answered pretty quickly and even on weekends patiently answered my questions. I got my calls from Kali and it was a pleasure talking to her. They really seem to take good care of the pets under their care. I can't wait to meet Rob!

Finn (Luke) is loving life and loving his big brother, Gus. He is a perfect gentleman! We can’t thank Spring Branch enough! We have had a heartbreaking few months, he has been perfect therapy. Our little Huston guy is loving his spoiled life in The Puget Sound. (Renton, Wa).

Contacted the owner of this organization for help with getting my mom’s elderly dog a home and she was able to network in assisting me with a suitable owner. Within a day I had multiple people inquiring about the dog and was able to match with a loving, caring new parent. I can’t thank Kelly enough for her help.

Our pet adoption experience with Spring Branch Rescue was so awesome! They were so responsive, easy to talk to, personable and professional. We were concerned about the whole process due to other pet adoption agencies never responding to us but our process with SBR was so fast and easy. Highly recommend using them if you are thinking adopting a rescue!

I recently started fostering for the rescue. Kali was very sick with COVID19 but continued to check on both our foster dogs. The dogs were “runners” and liked to chase cats. She was very upfront with us and we knew what we were getting into. The two dogs transformed from being scared to sweet and confident. They stopped trying to run. Bert and Ernie were both adopted by wonderful people.
I have worked with Spring Branch Rescue for over 6 months now. Not only did they make sure I was paired with my perfect dog, they have gone above and beyond even after I adopted. When I am ready for my next fur baby, I will definitely go through Spring Branch Rescue
Spring branch rescue helped me with a dog that had gotten in a bad fight. I sent a message and after 20 minutes they answered me . I didn't think anyone would answer on the weekend. They inmediately made an appointment at their vet the next day. They also offered to help my personal dog get fixed. I didn't have a job at the time and they did it for free. I had messaged and called other rescues and they were the only ones that called messaged me back. They took the dog into their rescue and he was adopted and has a really nice family. I've fostered dogs and cats for several different rescues over the last 12 years. This is definitely one of the best! I absolutely love this rescue and the work that they do. They have always been awesome to work with. The dogs that I have fostered were treated very quickly, all of it coordinated and arranged to fit my crazy schedule. I love that they keep the fosters and adopters in contact so we can see them living their best life! It has been an joy to work with them.

My experience with Spring Branch Rescue is the best! Kali and the rescue helped me out with our foster, Buster. Buster was abandoned by his owners in my parent’s neighborhood. They had other dogs apparently and he was too much to handle, so if we wanted him we could keep him. I couldn’t keep him but I promised Buster I would help him find his forever home, so I reached out to the rescue for help. Kali was so helpful.... we were willing to foster him and she helped out with a kennel. We were able to get him neutered and up to date on shots thanks to the rescue. Even throughout this pandemic we were able to fulfill that promise to Buster. It was bittersweet when it came time to say goodbye.... my family cried like babies for weeks but it was rewarding knowing he’s with a real family to call his own.

This rescue is a godsend! They are the sweetest people, with the most noble hearts; who make it their mission to change lives and spread love. This small family- oriented community of hard working volunteers do more for the world than most of the largest profit/non profit animal organisations since SBR actually puts the animals first. They do not cage the babies up to put on display, nor do they put them down to "make room". They actually have devoted members who foster every animal until they are adopted out to a well vetted family. From early on, SBR make sure the babies are always in a loving and active environment so the transition into their furrever home is as natural as possible. Their thoroughness in the adoption process is actually what proved to me they really put the animals first. They have no problem denying applicants for not passing their strict qualifications - even if that means fostering longer than necessary. This is how they ensure the babies go to furrever homes instead of being put in danger or juggled around in the system. They provide us with everything we could possibly need to properly welcome a new pup into our home,
and they still followup with us regularly. We all even have a private group on Facebook to share updates on all our pets. I not only get to show everyone how handsome my Thunder Bolt is turning out to be, but I also get to see how his litter mates are growing up all around the country. I will forever be thankful and indebted to Spring Branch Rescue for introducing me to my little Thunder baby, for accepting us into the SBR family, and for all the good they do in this world. I will recommend and support them every chance I get! ❤️

Our family was first introduced to SPring Branch Lost Pets and Rescue when we found Benjamin. The rescue was able to find him the perfect home in a short time period. We started to foster in December 2019.. Since December our family has fostered 5 dogs who are all healthy, happy and in furever homes. We love being part of a rescue and give these dogs a fighting chance for wonderful homes. Adopt don’t shop.

Kali and her team are angels on earth!! They work tirelessly to rescue abandoned and abused animals in her area. Spencer was found by them, almost dead, broken bones and signs of being hit and dragged by a car. Kali’s daughter stayed by his side every day, hand feeding him and loving him back to health. They then found a suitable foster home that would keep him safe until they found me, his new mommy! Working with Kali, although sometimes slow to reply (which is of course understandable, as most people who run non-profit often have multiple burners going at a time) was always a joy to talk to, and in minutes you can tell her love for animals is genuine and runs deep. Since adopting Spencer in March, she continues to check in on him and make sure we are all adjusting well. She has also generously donated money to help cover some costs of his continual medical needs due to his trauma. All to say, I recommend and adore her and her Rescue, and I tell every person looking to adopt to look into Spring Branch Rescue!

I have been extremely impressed by how a small group of determined people can focus on change in one area and have such an impact. Kali, the founder, decided to help the strays on the streets in a small community within a major metropolitan area. With the focus being on one spot, she has been able to partner with several social media groups to identify lost and stray animals, coordinate the reunification to ensure true owners and rehome the dogs to safe loving families. She is relentless in her efforts giving 100% of herself to these efforts. She has a strong network of volunteers, fosters, vet partnerships and rescue partnerships to help her in her success. These efforts are completely supported by donations made by the community. This has to help sterilize all of the animals before rehoming and assisting in the medical cases she acquires. It truly is a perfect example of how you can make an impact on your community.

Kali, the founder, has been passionate about saving our area’s dogs for over a decade. It started with just a lost & found Facebook posting site and now has officially become a 501c3 rescue. Houston has so many stray, worse is the number of dumped dogs, that the number of pups needing help never slows down. Everyone I’ve talked to or messaged with this volunteer rescue has been fantastic and they sacrifice their own time & money to help these pups. After a decade, our community knows this rescue and I hope to see the community & sponsors back this great rescue!
