Mission: The Sportsman's Network, Inc., was founded in 1991 by its President and State Chairman, Mr. Peter O. Samples. Mr. Samples founded the organization when he commenced conducting radio interviews of sportsmen from the League of Kentucky Sportsmen and aired those interviews on WIOK Radio, Falmouth, KY., where he was the General Manager. For the first time, sportsmen in Kentucky had a voice through the public media. Since then the organization has broadened its mission geographically to include the states of Ohio and Indiana. In addition, its number of programs has increased to include wildlife raise and release research on such wildlife as quail, grouse and pheasant. When appropriate, this information is shared with state government's efforts in restoring endangered wildlife to the various states. A Moment in Conservation is a daily radio program presenting animal wildlife issues on hunting, fishing, trapping and related topics. Another program provides food and medical supplies to various wildlife rehabilitation centers throughout its area of concentration. It also provides information through its website and maintains an 800 information line for callers - (800)680-8058. Plans for the development of its own sporting grounds with trap and skeet shooting ranges, rifle and pistol target ranges, bow and arrow target ranges, hunting and fishing areas, a lodge for meetings, and fishing and hunting safety training activities for children are underway.
