Mission: Spiro arts is an artist in residence and workshop center featuring a diverse community of visual artists, composers, and writers from around the world. Spiro arts also hosts a variety of events, including open studio receptions, community outreach programs, and a free public lecture series.
Programs: Artist in residence program: spiro arts granted (3) visual artists, and (1) writer for six-week residencies. Residents received shared housing, studio space, and a material/travel stipend to help offset their costs. The program is open to emerging and established artists, composers, and writers from around the world. Residents must submit an application, and our selected by a jury of professionals. Each resident artist served our community by completing a community outreach project - see below. Community outreach programs: spiro arts hosted a series of outreach programs, free and open to the public. Programs included creative writing labs, film screenings, artist lectures, special exhibitions, school visits, and studio tours. 260 people served. Open studio receptions: spiro arts hosted one open studio reception, at the end of the artist in residence term. The receptions are free and open to the public, offering a unique opportunity for the public to experience the sacred places where art is made. Receptions included live readings, performances, and innovative works of art. 175 people served hands-on workshops: spiro arts offered a series of workshops taught by professional working artists, and writers that allow participants to learn new skills, refine techniques, and grow creatively. 65 people served
