Mission: At special strides we combine equine movement, therapy, horsemanship and a natural setting allowing individuals with special needs the ability to achieve therapeutic and educational goals in an atmosphere emphasizing fun and nurture. It is our mission to provide these important interventions to all individuals in need.
Programs: Special strides is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 to provide therapy and recreation for individuals with special needs through the use of specially trained therapeutic horses in an environment that is about all about fun and nature. Occupational therapists and physical therapists as well as numerous volunteers facilitate this special therapy experience. Certified adaptive riding instructors teach many young riders with special needs the necessary skills to engage in a recreational activity of immense therapeutic value. An integral part of our mission is to provide this therapeutic intervention and recreational opportunity to all children and adults who require our services.
it is the mission of special strides to provide individuals with life challenges specialized therapy services (hippotherapy) and equine assisted activities in order to enable them to reach their potential. To this end, the board of directors has established the steven werthan memorial fund to provide the necessary financial assistance to those in need of our services.
