Our family was blessed to win a special needs scholarship. As you might imagine, having a disabled child in addition to 5 other children is very stressful. We had not been out on a date in years. The scholarship program afforded us the ability to go out for a few hours on the weekends. We had an “adventure” comparing barbecue restaurants to search for the best one. For a few hours every weekend our disabled son enjoyed the company of a qualified respite worker and a time out from us, while we enjoyed great food. The whole family functioned better with more relaxed parents. Special Needs Respite Inc and this program impacted us in such a positive way we wanted to share our great experience. Thank you!

I'm a single mom to a boy with special needs who needs around the clock care, having a set of extra hands helping me care for him is a must, thanks to Special Needs Respite Inc I'm able to get help with my son and all of his needs. This is a wonderful organization and I'm so grateful for the scholarship that we received, I know without their help this would have been impossible for me, having help around has made my son's quality of life ten times better. THANK YOU!!!!

I have participated as a supporter for this fine NFP. Their heart for the parents of special needs children is extraordinary and it is more than a job; it's their calling and passion! They pour their hearts into creating all kinds of partnerships and events to fund the respite care. And I've met the people who have received their services and seen the difference it makes. You can support them financially knowing that the money will benefit those who need their services and it will improve their lives. It's an amazing organization!!

I originally applied for a Special Needs Respite scholarship after someone posted a link to it on Facebook. We had just moved to town and didn’t know anyone yet and had no childcare options available other than therapy (which ended up being fewer hours than expected) and school (which hadn’t started yet). The scholarship allowed us to bridge the gap between therapy hours and work hours over the summer, as well as covering a teacher workday once school was in session. We also managed to get a couple of small breaks for ourselves in there. It’s been extremely helpful to us and we really appreciate it!!

"Special Need's Respite" program allowed me to get personalized in-home care for my special need's son so that I could work during "virtual" school days, and even allowed me to get a well-needed rest away to renew my spirit. The application process was very easy and the intake interview was simple and no-stress! Which is so rare in so many "support" programs available these days.

The support this organization provides for families of special needs children is awesome! The moms weekend getaway was fabulous...a chance to break away from the daily routines of the exhausting caregiving, time to relax and meet others who understand life's demands, and build new friendships! Just what the doctor ordered!

Special Needs Respite is an organization borne of the desire to help others in need. Having a child with special needs has a unique set of challenges and can be exhausting for even the most prepared parent. Sometimes you need to get away to take care of your family, run errands, or just have a break. This is where Special Needs Respite comes in. They provide scholarships for families who need just that - a respite. By providing scholarships to families who can hire special care providers, Special Needs Respite seeks to make life just a bit simpler for parents.

My husband and I needed some time to ourselves, and Stacy responded right away. She provided excellent care for our special and sometimes hard to manage son. It was so great to find someone we could trust with his health and safety! The break gave us new energy to keep parenting with grace.

I entered a contest to win a mommy weekend getaway, and was completely surprised when I was selected. What made it that much more wonderful was that I didn't have to worry about finding and paying someone to keep my 9 yr old son while I was away. Special Needs Respite covered all the expenses, and I was able to sit back and relax for at least whole weekend. It allowed me time to meet and connect with some other moms who had similar situations, and I got to focus on me and recharging my battery. I'm truly thankful for this experience.

Special Needs Respite has been doing what it promised to do when it was started in 2017 - awarding real scholarships to real families who need help paying for childcare for their special needs child. When founder Stacy Georges saw that the red tape, bureaucracy, and long waiting lists that programs in the state of GA offer, she decided to let the community help these families, and Special Needs Respite has delivered on that promise. A quick online application, days-long (rather than months-long) approval process, and flexible caregiver options, giving parents up to $1600/year for childcare means more families are getting the break they need - and finally have some hope. In 2020, SNR helped over 45 familes, and they are on track in 2021 to double that number. I'm proud to be on the board of this organization!

Thank you so much to all that have donated. My son has been turned down for so many programs that I am so blessed and beyond grateful for the scholarship so I can get out and run to the store or Dr. Apt. This has really helped so much. I wish there was more organizations willing to help our very special children. God bless y'all.

I am on the board of Special Needs Respite and I absolutely love serving with this team! This organization is filling a need in Metro-Atlanta by supporting special needs families financially to ensure that they can afford care for kids with special needs while the parents take a break from the 24/7 care that they provide. This is especially important for parents who are raising children with behavioral disorders and significant medical conditions. The parents are exhausted and often do not make self-care a priority, resulting in strain on their marriages, their mental health, and their physical bodies. The impact that this organization is having on our disability community is tremendous!
