Programs: The spca of east texas operates a permanent, weekly low cost spay/neuter clinic to serve the community in the prevention of unwanted litters and the promotion of preventative wellness care for pets. In 2014, the snippet clinic performed 3,544 spay/neuter surgeries for animals in our community. Additionally, 3,054 animals were vaccinated against rabies, 1,162 animals were vaccinated against distemper/parvo, and 301 animals were microchipped.
from january 1, 2014 through december 31, 2014, the spca of east texas received and documented animal welfare and cruelty cases through the animal cruelty hotline. Currently, we must rely on local law enforcement to investigate our cases by referral. These cases represent only calls that resulted in an animal welfare case being opened and do not include hotline calls that were immediately referred to veterinarians, low-cost clinics, online resources, and other rescues, shelters or agencies for assistance. In 2014, the spca of east texas rehomed 420 homeless dogs and referred dozens of homeless cats to our feline rescue partner omalleys alley cats. The organization opened a temporary adoption center to the public which is operated every saturday in tyler by 100% volunteer staff. Over 50 volunteer foster families provided temporary housing to our adoptables awaiting their forever homes.
humane animal care, pet safety, and responsible pet ownership programs were presented to hundreds of local elementary school children. Presentations included actual dogs for the children to interact with one on one, handouts and workbooks to explain and aid the understanding of safety, and the importance of caring for another living thing.
Ok so you have all helped me and seen my fight with the 5 puppies with seizure and the 1 that was healthy and had no medical issues.
Today that fight came to a end.
SPCA of East Texas had recieved word from a rescue trying to help me that I needed assistance. They came and took photos of the dogs and said they would get them vetted and send them up north.Be*** from SPCA told us to hold onto them a few more weeks forbthe we said thats fine. Told the few Rescues that wanted to help that SPCA is gonna send them up North. Everything was planned and worked out.... Today at 9 am there is a banging on my front door and 3 animal control officers are at my door. I contact Be*** she said to turn them over to Animal control that SPCA sent them to get the dogs. Tyler Animal Control said they will take the dogs to SPCA. I give over the puppies after wishing them luck and lots of fun in their new life. The 2 males that had grown attached to me literally cried. But I knew they would get taken care of at a new home......should be the end right......wrong..
SPCA lied to us and killed ALL 6 of the dogs. Within 3 hours of taking them they were euthanized.
