We adopted a cat who was described as "very friendly". Nothing could be further from the truth. However, he did eventually become a loving and friendly cat that we loved very much. However, we just had to euthanize him after having him short of four years. Given his health and issues leading up to his passing, I truly believe that he was much older than we were told (they told us that he was three years old when we adopted him). I'm basing this opinion on my past experience with cats I have had with similar health and physical issues when they got near to the end of their life.

We have never dealt with a nicer, more professional and genuine Organization. From our first inquiry to the day they drove (much further than they should have) to deliver our 3 beautiful babies they were all a pleasure to speak with and ultimately enter into an adoption contract with. I can’t say enough about how they handle the rescue, spend time singling out who is actually the right fit for both you and the kitty and then the follow through to make sure that the cat(s) are going to a home where it will be cared for and loved. They don’t just give you a cat to get a donation, they spend their time researching where the cat will live to make sure its a safe, healthy and loving home. I cannot say enough good things about Spay the Strays and the work these caring individuals do on behalf of the cats by giving of the most important thing, their time. I will recommend to all my family and friends who are looking to adopt a sweet kitty that they go to this Organization as they truly have only the well being of the cats at heart. Thank you to Anita, Cathleen & Hazel for your unwavering dedication and love for the kitty population. The love you have shown to them while fostering undoubtedly helped to shape these sweet babies and for allowing me to be the new Momma to Sky, Cloud & Merlin, I will be forever grateful.
I will be adding photos & videos as soon as our “kids” are comfortable in their new home..!

We were looking for a cat to be friends with our high energy cat. This rescue is volunteer run so we contacted one of the fosters and told her the type of personality we were looking for. She said she had a few cats in mind that would be a good match for our current cat. So we met with her and the cats she had mentioned and picked a tabby boy. Our existing cat didn't want the slow introduction thing and within days the two cats were best friends. They now do everything together and are so happy. The adoption process was smooth and easy as well.

They do ask more questions than some places, but it's all to make sure they match the right people to the right cat and to make sure the cat is getting a safe, indoor-only, loving home. They are against de-clawing (us too) and want to make sure the cat will have the best place to live by doing home checks and such. None of it was a problem for us. We love our new family member.

Thank you Spay the Strays!

I actively went to adopt a cat through Spay the Strays because I believe in their mission and wanted to support that. They agreed to house the kitten that I paid for for two weeks so he wouldn’t have to move too many times. I called to update them on my housing and that I was ready to pick up my new best friend. They told me there was too much miscommunication from my end and that someone else adopted the cat that I already paid and signed for. I asked for clarification, the woman said “hold on a second”, put me on mute and then hung up. I called twice more to that lady and once to a volunteer with no answer. Two hours later the first lady called me back saying the same thing, that they’ll refund me and that I should go to a shelter where animals are being euthanized. Uhh. Seriously?? Highly unprofessional and not worth working with. I’m heartbroken now and feel like I got scammed. Unbelievable.

I have volunteered for Spay the Strays for over 6 years. They have been in existence for 12 years. They have found homes for so many cats and kittens through perseverance, dedication, love for cats, and sheer grit! The volunteers and foster families sacrifice much. They have families, jobs, friends, deadlines, holidays, vacations, sick children, cleaning, shopping, but besides all this, they still manage to help the cats. No excuses, they just sacrifice their lives, give of their time, extend a hand to a paw, give their hearts, spend their own money, and give and give and give some more. I included a photo of a cat named Lilly that will get hip surgery soon. She is being helped by Spay the Strays. Many would have turned this girl away. But, with the help of a fundraiser, Lilly will get help. This group isn't perfect as the world thinks but is purrfect for the kitties in their program.

Spay the strays is run by people that have trouble communicating and then want to blame the issue on their clients. They've literally trespassed on to private property and took my cat when I wasn't home. the person that answered the door at the time did not invite them inside nor were they allowing them to take the cat, but they barged in anyways and won't admit that it was wrong in the slightest. Spay the strays does what they want and expects you to stay a reasonable and satisfied customer when they act unprofessional, and I'm not the first adoptive parent to have issues with them. As an avid cat rescuer there are better places to adopt from and to volunteer for. I respect the mission, just not how it's carried out by these people.

I am impressed that this organization is run by all volunteers. They have foster homes for cats before adoption and they have 4 great adoption sites (2 PetSmart stores and 2 Petco stores). Having dedicated volunteers available to handle adoptions is wonderful. And the foster parents provide great information on the temperament and needs of the cats and kittens. I'm a regular donor to this organization and have 2 cats of my own (and 1 dog, but I digress).
