My dog, Sissy is a pet rescue. She was found wondering around the streets of San Diego. When the pound picked her up, she was given so many days before she was put down. Fortunately, a rescue shelter got her before her time ran out. Eventually after being spayed, and treated for fleas/ticks and skin issues, she was adopted out. We fell in love with her the minute we saw her. I donated to SPAN thrift store in honor of Sissy!!!
SPAN Thrift store is 100% volunteer run, no one gets paid for working at the store. The volunteers are dedicated, friendly & all work towards the mission of assisting with the financing of spay/neuter for pet owners, low & no income pet owners & feral cats. They finance 3 mobile pet clinics per month, along with handing out food for pets of the homeless . The store runs the gambit of household good from simple items to extreme items with clothing representing a major selling point. (Great clothing at extremely low prices!)
I have volunteered at span for about 10 yrs now, this place has changed my life. I work with unselfish people for free who just want to give animals a voice so they can be taken care of better. By spay and neutering u have less homeless kitties starving with no families or surviving in terrible conditions. This place has given my life a purpose. Not everyone can save the animals. I am blessed to be there. Every penny we make goes to help animals. I look forward to going to work. I love my job.
