Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Civil Rights

Mission: Southwest Recovery Alliance is dedicated to the implementation of evidence-based public health strategies, policy transformation, and justice reform in Arizona and throughout the Southwest. We aid in preventing further transmission of Hepatitis C and HIV through harm reduction as well as provide tools and services to prevent overdoses. We meet at designated areas in Phoenix throughout the week to help people make healthier decisions in hopes of decreasing the rate of disease transmission caused by sharing tools with other people. Providing these tools and resources is the only way in preventing further transmission of many diseases, which proves crucial as Hepatitis C is an epidemic in Arizona.

Target demographics: SWRA aims to decrease the rates of overdose and HIV/HCV transmission primarily for PWUD.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Last year, 1,841 unique participants visited our sites, we distributed 452,100 syringes, and handed out 15,940 Naloxone kits

Geographic areas served: We are located in Phoenix, AZ and serve all of Maricopa County.

Programs: We have two SAP sites, and we have partnered with the Arizona Department of Health Services to eliminate HCV in Arizona.

These people truly live and breath harm reduction. It's such a wonderful environment to be in as they are always so kind and supportive to all those they encounter. It's nice to know that there is still kindness in this world and that they truly care about those in chaotic drug use or abandon onto the streets.
