Mission: Southside community development and housing corporation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established in march 1988. Scdhc's mission is to use a holistic approach to create viable, thriving, and sustainable communities. Our purpose is to provide quality residential and commercial development, supportive resources, services and programs throughout the central virginia region.
Programs: Single family development:started construction on 32 townhome units in the matthews at chestnut hill subdivision. These homes were sold to first time homebuyers below the 80% ami. Swansboro revitalization project - continued pre-development planning for new construction of 22 townhome units for homeownership in the subdivision called "the hollands". Neighborhood stabilization program - built and sold 24 new construction and substanstially rehabilitated single family homes for low and moderate income first time homebuyers chesterfield county - completed construction of new single family homes on 34 lots in the the rachel's way subdivision. Bellmeade community - completed construction on 16 new single family homes in the mimosa creek subdivision. These homes were sold to first time homebuyers below the 80% area median income. Homeownership counseling services:housing counseling program - conduct housing counseling program through hud. Certified as a hud approved housing counseling agency for comprehensive counseling. Henrico county downpayment initiative - administer federal funds to provide downpayment and closing cost assistance for first time homebuyers and homeownership education and counseling in henrico county. Provided 1,058 clients home ownership education, pre and post housing counseling, credit, and foreclosure prevention counseling. Provided 26 homebuyer down payment and closing cost assistancemultifamily development: iron bridge apartments - in partnership to develop 80 apartments for rental to 60% and below the median area income in chesterfield county. Townhomes at warwick place - completed development of 40 attached townhomes for rental to 60% and below the median area income. Sandston plateau retirement community - partner in 100 unit independent living apartments. Homeowner counseling service figures:provided 1,044 clients with home ownership education, pre and post housing counseling and credit counselingprovided 23 homebuyers down payment assistance grantsprovided foreclosure counseling to 45 individuals
