As a law enforcement officer in Shakopee, SVA provides essential services to our community. We trust them to follow up with victims of domestic violence and require our officers to partner with SVA for these cases. They continue to exceed our expectations and offer a variety of service to their clients.

The staff at SVA is amazing to work with. I have volunteered at several events and have been so touched by the people. At one event I was manning the SVA information table and explaining the services when someone came to the table and started telling stories of how SVA has helped her and others that she knows. It was so impactful to hear how important SVA was to her. So happy this organization is in our community!
SVA provides a valuable service to the people of Scott and Carver Counties. I have volunteered a few times and the volunteer coordinator is knowledgeable and helpful. It’s so important to do what we can to help keep this organization visible so that those that need it are able to find it.
Southern Valley Alliance (SVA) is an amazing organization that brings support, guidance, advocacy and education on domestic violence to the residents of Scott and Carver counties! As a medical social worker serving the community for 15+ years, I have referred many patients to SVA. I have had patients call and update me on the support and advocacy they received from SVA and the kindness they experienced while sharing their story and needs with the advocates. The SVA client advocates go above and beyond to ensure clients have the resources needed to feel empowered to make changes! We are lucky to have such a strong and dedicated agency providing support to domestic violence victims in our community.
I first encountered SVA while working as a prosecutor in Carver County several years ago. Through the next several years I come into contact with numerous people who had taken advantage of SVA's services at times in their lives that were incredibly difficult. SVA provides victim-centered services that we are unable to address in the criminal justice process.
In the past two years I became involved in SVA's board and have gotten to watch it grow tremendously as an organization and expand its outreach, education, and the ways that it benefits victims in our community.
As a local family law attorney, I have been involved with SVAMN for 17 years, and as a board member for the last three years. I have had the opportunity to see the impact that this organization has from many different perspectives. I have referred countless women and men to their resources when going through domestic abuse situations. I have represented their clients in various stages of the legal process over the years. I have had a first had view of how instrumental an advocate can be as people navigate the challenging domestic abuse legal process. Their resources and caring staff are unmatched! Lastly, as a board member, I see and am a part of how they an integral resource to the community and use the donated resources in a responsible and thoughtful manner. As SVAMN moves into this next phase, I cannot emphasize enough what an incredible resources they are to the community.
"Imagine if we measured success by the amount of safety that people felt in our presence.
I want to live in a society that values helping people feel safe. That’s how we all can flourish."

This is the goal we want to achieve for everyone who seeks help from Southern Valley Alliance.
I have had the opportunity to help at community events for SVA to "get the word out" on the many services offered to those who might be in abusive relationships. I have been struck at how many people stopped by and said "I've benefitted directly from their services." and "I don't know where I would be now without SVA's support." It has been amazing to hear first hand of the difference SVA has made in the lives of so many people! What an important organization.
This group of women are amazing! It is not only a job, it is a mission. As a volunteer I have had the opportunity to see first hand how Southern Valley Alliance has made a difference.
It is a safe community to receive guidance, emotional support and services. A person may start out as a victim of domestic violence, but soon this person becomes a client who is on a healthier life path. To help a person become empowered is the greatest success for me as a volunteer for Southern Valley Alliance.
