Mission: In 1919, the Commission on Interracial Cooperation (CIC) was formed amid deep concern about racial conflict in America and with the purpose to encourage interracial understanding to bring about interracial justice and goodwill. Today, though great strides have been made, those same concerns and goals resonate in SRC, renamed in 1944. The mission of SRC is to promote racial justice, protect democratic rights and broaden civic participation in the Southern United States.
