Mission: To secure financial and volunteer support for production and promotion partnerships that magnify the community impact of vegas pbs media services.
Programs: As snpt supports the vegas pbs global online advanced learning program, we partner with dozens of partners including the department of employment training & rehabilitation, area health education centers, nevada governor's office, clark county school district and the southern nevada health district. These partnerships allow us to provide online educational services to nevada. Our biggest partnership program is with the southern nevada health district where we are offering food safety training for food handlers in southern nevada. Per the agreement with the health district, customers log onto the learning management system and purchase the health card course. Snpt receives $20 per enrollment. The funds received from the health cards is transferred to vegas pbs in support of magnifying vegas pbs' mission to support and distribute media content that improves education.
provide financial support to support vegas pbs to support it's mission to improve people's lives by creating and distributing media content that improves health and education; strengthening community institutions; providing universal access to the arts; and fostering civic engagement. In fy17 snpt continued sponsoring the television series "outdoor nevada" which showcases various different educational, historical, and cultural activities located all across nevada. We partnered with various local and state agencies and the program was seen by tens of thousands, helping educate the public about our local communities. In addition snpt secured $191,110 in funding to support the various educational and informational programs vegas pbs provides and distributes to the community.
the creation of desert meadows area health education center (ahec) was formed under snpt and funding was provided through numerous grants to help educate southern nevada about the many different health issues in today's society. The program is offered in partnership with the main ahec offices run out of unr in reno. Though grant funding numerous seminars and public awareness campaigns are provided to help raise awareness of health issues in southern nevada. These seminars are free to the public and provide a valuable resource previously not available to the public, continuing our mission of providing educational content to improve the lives of southern nevadans. Camp med is an educational summer camp program offered to approx. 150 8th grade students interested in pursuing a medical career, giving them exposure to the medical profession and what the experience might be like.
