Mission: The southern nevada center for independent living (sncil) is a non-profit corporation created in september 1995 to provide support services for individuals in southern nevada with severe disabilities whose disability is creating a barrier in living independently in the family, community or in employment. Sncil provides services including information and referral services, advocacy services, independent living skills training, and peer counseling. Other services provided, based on need, include benefits counseling, adaptive equipment, housing, transportation, information and technical assistance with the americans with disabilities act.
Programs: Sncil's programs correspond to the grants they receive. The following is a list of the grants sncil received: center for independent living: this fund is used to account for the receipt and expenditure of funds received on an annual basis directly from the u. S. Department of education under the rehabilitation act of 1973, as amended as well as funds received under the american recovery and reinvestment act. Work incentives planning and assistance program: this fund is used to account for the receipt and expenditure of funds received on an annual basis from the u. S. Social security administration pursuant to the ticket to work and work incentives improvement act (twwiia). Unrestricted fund: this fund is used to account for the receipt and expenditure of other unrestricted funds.
