Mission: Southern Hills was established in 1968 and serves over 108,000 residents of Dubois, Perry, Spencer, Orange, and Crawford Counties in southwestern Indiana. Its Mission Statement reads: WITH COMPASSION AND RESPECT, SOUTHERN HILLS HELPS PEOPLE MAKE THEIR LIVE WORK BETTER! Southern Hills is a not-for-profit community mental health center governed by an 11 member voluntary Board of Directors. The organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the communities served by providing a continuum of mental health and substance abuse care.
Programs: Outpatient services includes services for clients in the areas of individual, group, family, emergency psychotherapy, psych testing and evaluations. We served clients a total of 48,904 hours.
drop-in center includes up to 6 hours per day in a structured, supervised rehablitation program with individual and group skills training and individual and group psychotherapy provided to clients with mental disorders. We served clients a total of 21,128 hours.
residential services includes two 24 hour residential group homes and two transitional group homes for the chronically mentally ill. Psychotherapy, recreational activities, and training in daily living skills are provided. We served clients a total of 10,989 days.
consultation and education services: includes community and educational programs focusing on community awareness and instruction on mental illness, treatment, and availability of facilities and programs. During the year, we provided 1,522 hours of consultation and education services.
