Mission:
SELC’s mission is to promote livable communities; to defend healthy air and clean water; and to protect our forests, coasts, wetlands, and other native landscapes in Virginia and across the Southeast.
Programs: Reforming transportation and land-use policies and practices is our Land and Community program’s focus. Our fast-growing region is building more miles of roads and developing more acres of land per capita than any other part of the U.S. In response, we are promoting practical alternatives that would preserve the South’s countryside and community character.
