Mission: Southern comforts animal rescue if a texas based rescue group dedicated to rescuing dogs from local kill shelters, rehabilitating them both socially and medically. Once out of the shelter, the dogs are placed in foster homes where they are sayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, de-wormed, heartworm tested and treated, if found to be positive, and receive any other medical attention necessary. We work closely with a number of local shelters fostering as many as adequate space allows in foster homes until they are adopted. We have website exposure to promote adoptions in new england and the north west where strict spay and neuter ordinances restrict the number of available dogs. While in foster homes, the dogs are evaluated to determine the the adoptability of the animal along with what type of adopted home would be best suited for the animal. Adoptive homes are interviewed through an application process to place the appropriate dog with the home. The organization is an all volunteer
Programs: During the current year: 250 dogs were removed from kill shelters and placed in foster homes; 150 dogs were adopted to forever homes; and 75 dogs remained in foster care at the end of the year.
