Causes: Human Services
Mission: Our mission is to deliver a breadth of resources to caregivers, families and patients who are confronting the final stages of life.
Programs: Patient assistance: through our angels assistance program, we provide services that typically are not covered by medical insurances, medicare or medical; needs that are largely overlooked in todays healthcare system. Sometimes, these services are as simple as providing transportation. Sometimes, they are as complex as arranging for a child to meet their hollywood hero before they die. All are equally important and all speak to the compassion and dignity we seek to provide. Ultimately, our goal is to award patients and their families meaningful moments that will last a lifetime.
community outreach: weve developed programs designed to familiarize the broader community with the resources that are available to them when the need for hospice care arises. There are many different ways to alleviate the stress that can overwhelm a family in times when hospice care is needed. We strive to educate the community about hospice through tabling events, television ads, newspaper articles, and speaking engagements. We also print and distribute literature in four different languages to help loved ones anticipate the signs and symptoms of approaching death.
live life after stroke: the southern california hospice foundation exists not only to benefit those at the end-of-life, but also to offer support to individuals confronting all potentially life threatening illnesses, including conditions such as cancer, heart disease, pulmonary disease and stroke. Live life after stroke is a motivational speaking series which is designed to offer real-life coping skills to caregivers and patients affected by stroke, as well as anyone facing a debilitating condition or catastrophic illness.
compassionate engagement project: through our compassionate engagement project, patients can regain a sense of purpose through art. Art-making validates ones presence, enabling a freedom to create meaningful work in the midst of suffering. A patient can tell their story, express their fears, or communicate their loves or regrets, making their end of life journey more peaceful.
