SEGA is a dedicated group of volunteers. All fundraising efforts go 100% to the hounds. I'm fortunate to have adopted two greyhounds from SEGA, and the support I've received has been phenomenal.

I have adopted 2 wonderful greyhounds from this group. This group is really a community. My recently adopted hound had gotten lost (prior to me adopting her). Within 45 minutes there were 25 + people on the ground searching for her. Within 3 hours she was located and whisked away to the vet for treatment for the wounds on her paws due to her "walkabout."

SEGC/SEGA takes in and cares for any greyhound in the area in need. They are a fun and appreciative group to volunteer for. We are always looking for ways to raise more funds to help more greyhounds.

SEGC/SEGA has something for every family with a greyhound. They also have a wonderful Meet & Greet program to educate and expose folks to greyhounds and what wonderful companions they can be.

SEGA is an all volunteer greyhound adoption group. All funds donated to SEGA are used to transport, feed, shelter, foster, vaccinate and generally care for former racing greyhounds before they are placed in adoptive homes.

I became acquainted with this group at a local Garden Show in 2006. I hadn't decided which type of dog to adopt at the time. SEGA was at the same show a year later. The information SEGA provided at that Meet & Greet event sealed the deal for the adoption of my first dog, a greyhound.

Since that time, I have adopted 6 other greyhounds of various ages. My first greyhound, Drew, has become a Reading Education Assistance Dog. SEGA sponsors many opportunities for volunteers to assist in such as pet therapy at hospitals, schools and assisted living facilities. They schedule regular and special event meet and greets to educate the public on greyhounds as pets. The club attends a local high school in Marietta, GA whose mascot is the Greyhound during the football season each year. The student athletes and cheerleaders parade the greyhounds out on the field before the games.

What makes this adoption group so different from many others is the post adoption support for families adopting a greyhound for the first time. The "Running Mate" program matches experienced greyhound owners with new greyhound owners to help answer questions about the transition of the greyhound from athlete and racer, to fabulous family pet!

I've personally met hundreds of potential adopters at meet and greet events in the past 4 years, and I can say my excitement over sharing the knowledge I've gained from other club voluteers and owning my greyhounds will never tire. They are wonderful pets if given the chance.
