We've been blessed with a number of Llamas and Alpacas from SELR. They tend to start out as fosters, some here for medical care, but several of them have stolen our hearts and never left. The folks at SELR are always ready when needed for rescues, rehomes, education, and support. We've made some great friends there too. They are truly committed to their mission.

I adopted my 1st llamas from SELR and then became a foster home for senior and/or medically challenged or behaviorally challenged llamas and alpacas. Did a stint as a state coordinator before going back to my favorite role as a foster home. I received LOTS and LOTS of assistance over the years to better understand and help camelids from this wonderful group of volunteers who are ready and willing to share their expertise/experiences with anyone who asks. They do an amazing job and look forward to more years of volunteering with them.

I've adopted several alpacas through Southeast Llama Rescue. The state coordinator came to visit our farm before we adopted and she was professional, friendly, and helpful. The other coordinators I've met in neighboring states were friendly as well. While they do their best to get the animals sturdy before adopting them out, sometimes the animals they rescue have medical issues that don't show up right away--one of ours died shortly after we got him home and they let us adopt another to replace him, waiving their adoption fees. They have a helpful online forum, too. I'm happy to adopt more animals through them and to show them support.

I've volunteered in one capacity or another over the years to assist in helping both llamas and alpacas who for one reason or another need new homes find those happy endings. SELR relies on a large network of volunteers to foster, transport and ensure necessary vet care is provided. Could not be more proud to be associated with such an enthusiastic and well organized group!

Southeast Llama Rescue is an awesome nonprofit committed to helping llamas and alpacas during their hard times. They rescue, vet and take care of them until they find their forever home. I’ve volunteered and I’ve adopted several from them. All great animals once they settled in, they were all sweet. SELR will be with you to answer any questions, give advice and help you. They also extend their reach across the U.S. helping other camelids.

There comes a time , due to health or age, when we realize we can no longer give our llamas the care they deserve. It is a hard and worrisome time. Where will our llamas go? Who will care for them? That is when Southeast Llama rescue steps in. They give guidance and assistance in getting your critters placed in a safe and caring environment. That is such a relief. Thank you SELR for being there when you were needed.

I have worked with this organization for the past 6 years and you will not find another organization that has more heart and passion for their cause. All the volunteers go over and above to find loving home for the llamas and alpacas that come into the system. All monies go to offset costs of education, care, medical, transport and necessities for the animals.

Love this group!!!

I have been involved with Southeast Llama Rescue (SELR) as both a volunteer and also the beneficiary of their rescue efforts. My entire herd is comprised of rescues and without the facilitation, support, and education provided by SELR, I would have been far less prepared to successfully adopt and care for my herd. The organization is fiscally responsible, lean, and highly effective. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
