Mission: The philosophy of independent living, maintains that individuals with disabilities have the right to choose services and make decisions for themselves. This belief is the foundation and guiding principle of all of policies and operations of the southeast center for independent living. Scil provides training, information and support to help consumers achieve individual goals, experience personal growth and participate fully in community life.
Programs: The southeast center for independent living (scil) operates a regional independent living center that offers five core services to any individual with a disability who lives in one of 20 towns located in southeast massachusetts. The five core services are: advocacy; information and referral; peer counseling (one-on-one); skills training, and transition and prevention. Scil provides assistance to youth transitioning to adulthood through three different programs. The scil programs are funded in large part by the massachusetts rehabilitation commission.
