Programs: 1.)Akbay Program provides supportive services that allow for personal enrichment and development to help working-class San Francisco residents to better their lives and avoid isolation when faced with everyday challenges. We provide culturally-competent and bilingual services to immigrant seniors, adults, youth, and their families by helping them navigate the different available resources and services available to them. Also, we conduct numerous community activities under this program which includes: a) SIGLA project which means vitality in Filipino and focus on wellness workshops/classes which includes Zumba, cooking demo, yoga and more. b) Strengthening Families project – is an evidence-based family skills training for high-risk and general population families that is recognized both nationally and internationally. Parents and youth attend a 14-weeks workshops together, learning parenting skills and youth life and refusal skills. 2.)Workers Program: With San Francisco leading the country in the growing inequality between rich and poor, it's critical that our community has access to quality jobs. Our Workforce Development Program helps with: creating or updating resumes, job search and application, understanding your worker rights, advice about discrimination at work, referrals to free or low-cost legal services. 3.)Tenant Counseling Program: SOMCAN provides advice on basic tenant rights and referrals to tenant lawyers and other critical resources. Our Tenant Program provides help with: getting your landlord to repair your unit, rent increases, evictions, buyouts, roommates, harassment, and advice on fair housing and discrimination.
