Everyone at SHPR cares so much about the dogs. They make sure families find a dog that's a good fit and provide training. It's great to know that our new pup can board here when we go away. We're so happy to have found our dog at this fantastic rescue!
Nov 2015 We moved to the area about a month prior, stopped into the rescue, interested in adopting. We mentioned what we were looking for: not a puppy, intimidating, but great with other dogs, cats and kids! Thinking it was impossible, we met 3 great dogs!! We chose 1 that seemed to fit our family. Rotty mix was the assumption, only to find out later our landlord wouldn't allow the breed. South Hills had a test and he was German Shepherd and Lab mix, which was allowed! The adoption process was smooth and we support the rescue by following them on FB, sharing the adoptables and loving the new family pics! Fast forward to Oct 2017, my husband and I saw boxer-hound mix puppies that were just too cute. We visited and met the pups, put an application in and because someone backed out, we brought home a pup! The 2 are now brothers and best buds! I've suggested South Hills to everyone I know and I do what I can for them as well!
I had reviewed a number of rescue shelter Facebook and web sites. I kept going back to South Hills Pet Rescue, even though it was 40 minutes from my home. I filed an application to adopt. I was impressed with the Shelter’s vetting process. They are very thorough. I found my fur baby there and couldn’t be happier. Jasper brings a lot of joy to our lives!
I have adopted twice from this agency. They are Fantastic! They are caring, compassionate, and I highly recommend them.
South Hills Pet Rescue “hosted” my Rottie mix, Zeus, until I could claim him in my heart. They work with the dogs in their care and work hard to be sure they are well matched with their families. They make many hard-to-place dogs placeable.
Two years ago my husband and I decided to adopt a puppy that one of my residents (I'm a property manager) was fostering. Her and her liter mates were neglected and surrendered to South Hills Pet Rescue. They were only 5 weeks old and had no shots. We were sad that we had to wait a month to take her home but we knew she was well taken care of. South Hills sent me pictures and updates of the puppys so we knew how she was doing. They took amazing care of her until she was ready to come home and I couldn't thank them enough for saving her life. She has been an amazing addition to our family. South Hills Pet Rescue really cares about each and every dog that they help!
