We adopted our girl, Nova (formally known as Honey) from South Georgia Equine Rescue and had such a great experience! Heather really made sure we were ready and able to take care of her, which is the sign of an organization that really cares about their rescues. The pick up process was simple and they had everything ready. We love our girl so much and would definitely recommend rescuing from this organization...and donating to it! Thanks for my BFF!

South Georgia Equine Rescue is simply a blessing to our area. Tending to these animals is not just something they do during their free time it is their LIFE! They spend every moment of every day dedicating themselves to these animals. They sacrifice everything to make sure the animals have what they need and are taken care of. I have been fortunate enough to volunteer and help with these animals and see first hand just how much blood sweat and tears goes into it. Heather does a great job. I have adopted two of her fur babies. One senior dog and a puppy. I love how she keeps the senior dogs. She don’t put them down because they are old. She loves them as much as the other ones. So please help her with donations and other stuff if possible.
I adopted Bullet from SGER. He was my first foster fail. Heather was absolutely amazing to work with and her passion for these animals is seen day in and day out. She gives these animals new beginnings when most would have given up. If you are looking to foster or adopt look no further.

Heather and SGER is an AMAZING person and rescue that is 100% focused on the best care for the animals she helps. She took a very neglected, broken, and mangy dog that was left to fend for herself on the streets. She fixed her up and made her forget the former life of neglect and found her a wonderful home where she will be loved as she deserves. This is what she does for each and every animal that is lucky enough to begin their new life with her. Heather is very picky with the people she choses and cares for the most broken animals nobody loves. THE BEST in the business hands down!!
I have yet to adopt from South Georgia Equine Rescue,I donate when I am able,and follow religiously thru social media.. W out a doubt Heather Gavitt and her amazing rescue should be recognized as a outstanding rescue!..She goes out of her way to help any dog cat horse that is in any need.If in the rare instance she cannot help it,she will find someone who can. Any animal that is hurting,once she gets possession of it,it will be well in a short time. She is knowledgeable in all facets of animal care,and can triage anything until she can vet it.. Some of the neglect cases she has dealt with,have made my stomach turn but she makes them healthy again. She truly is a mother Theresa of animals!!...
South Georgia Equine Rescue is a wonderful group helping all sorts of fur babies! In south Ga where they are located, there are no government agencies that take care of the thousands of unwanted and stray pets in their county. So Heather stepped up and took over! From abandoned and abused horses to unwanted dogs and puppies, and a goat, chicken, pig, or farm animal or two...she helps all sorts and gets them well and finds most of them wonderful homes and their own families! No hard luck case is too tough nd she tries to give every soul a chance. I've adopted 3 amazing pups (Molly, Misty, Belle)and a horse (Dollie)from this agency and send many people her way to find a friend of their own! Donating monthly and sending needed items is high on my list because I cant adopt any more but will help her all i can to get these babies into homes! Heather is such a wonderful woman and puts all the fur babies needs ahead of her own. This organization is the best!!

I have adopted two beautiful dogs from her and have witnessed the adoption of hundreds of fur babies in the past four years since I've met her. Summer of 2020...I started looking for a puppy to add to our family. Tried a local animal shelter but was denied for reasons beyond my control. So, I started googling other rescues within a 250 mile radius. S.G.E.R. popped up on this puppy named Jasper's profile. I reached out to inquire about their process and fees. Heather responded very quickly. It only took about 3 days to get approved. It was another 2 wks before we were able to bring Jasper home because he wasn't quite ready for re-homing. One of Heather's amazing foster parents met me in Jacksonville to bring us Jasper.
On March 17th, Jasper will be 1 yr old. He is not the dog we were expecting. We thought we were getting a pit mix...turns out he's a lot more Jack Russell. He keeps us entertained and loves to tell us when we're not giving him enough attention.
We couldn't be happier with this adoption or with S.G.E.R. Heather is an amazing human for helping take care of all the animals.
SGER is a great help to abandoned dogs and horses in southern GA, and sadly there are SO many. Not only does this rescue care for numerous sweet 4-logged creatures who've been abandoned, but also help is offered with referrals. We had lost our darling lab at an advanced age, and weren't sure about adopting a puppy. Thanks to SGER we met a darling adult dog at a fellow rescue, and have enjoyed her as part of our family for 4 years now. I will always be grateful to SGER for the match-making :)

I visited SGER last year to drop off some dog supplies and was very impressed with the setup and happy dogs I saw. I spoke with the owner a bit about her process, having followed SGER postings for awhile. Those rescued dogs are indeed lucky to have found such a kind and competent way-station on their journeys to their fur-ever homes. SGER helped us find a Labx a couple of years ago, and we remain very grateful.
The work this woman does with only her daughter, and occasional Volunteers is wonderful. She is not your normal rescue person and she lives and breathes with them as they come in, stay for awhile and then find the perfect forever home. She's even been known to reach out and help others in need, taken the time to share advice and her expertise with those in need, and goes out of her way to save animals most rescues pass up due to the difficulty of care needed. She is one of very few who is state licensed and goes by the rules in our state. Please consider your donations for her as there are always dumped on the road litters, abandoned animals and those who are in need who would die if not in her care? If you are looking for a dog, please check her out...even if you are from out of town. She will find a way with God's help leading her!

SGER is not just "any"rescue. She is what "every" rescue should be. She doesn't pick and choose the animals she wants. She takes in emergencies, dumped "on a dirt road"dogs, Dumped momma dogs AND their pups, along with pulling from shelters when she can, or taking in hard cases like when older folks have to give them up. She goes the extra mile "all the time"not part time, and really should be commended some day. She even offers people viable advice when it comes to being able to share treatment conditions most common folks don't know. That along with sharing supplies if need be with other rescues when they can't locate what they need. This gal goes above and beyond. When she says a dog is fully vetted she means it! She also doesn't throw out sob stories to get sympathy like some rescues do. She means what she says and DOES what she says too. Total confidence with this girl!
Almost 1 year ago my husband and I decided we were finally ready to bring a fur baby back into our home a year and a half after losing our 15 year old poodle. I started watching the various rescue pages as we had committed to rescuing this time around. I saw Heather post about rescuing a group from a hoarding situation and one of the females was pregnant and had the cutest litter of puppies, we knew our new addition was in that litter. Heather had a thorough vetting process that I immensely respected and was willing to accommodate our return from an out of state vacation to make the adoption possible. Our boy turns 1 next month and I truly can’t imagine our life without him. So proud to say we rescued from South Georgia Equine Rescue!
I adopted opal (riddle) from SGER and i was so happy with the whole process. Heather made sure that I found my perfect match! and I definitely did. She sent recommended dogs for the needs that I told her. Heather was so helpful through the entire adoption process!
I absolutely love this rescue. Heather takes these babies in and shows them so much love. She makes sure they get the best medical treatment available. Once ahe feels there ready to be adopted she is very careful to make sure her babies get the best fur parents with safe and loving homes. She always follows up on the fur babies after there adopted. This rescue is a one if a kind. She takes animals that no one will touch or help. I have watched animals that others want to put down and she nurses them back and finds then their forever homes. SGER is truly for the animals! I have been working with heather for over a year now. We both were trying to help a litter of bottle feed puppies in which I fostered half the litter and she made sure to help me get them all the medical treatments they needed, food, and homes, in which one become part of my pack! She continues to check in on him, truly compassionate. Since then I have been able to help foster for her, and she goes above in beyond for rescues, not only in the care she gives them while with her/ with her fosters, but also when assuring they go to good homes once adopted, and then even after!
I love dogs and when I came across SGER I fell hard for these throw always. I have used this resource many times for questions involving strays and help to home them. I also am a monthly pledger for one of the dogs and her medical treatments. Why?, well they love and they care like I do. It’s not about people it’s about the dogs and those dogs receive medical help and are happy once they receive the love that Heather so generously offers them. It breaks my heart what people are capable of yet Heather brings the sun shine back out for these lovely animals.

We had nothing but positives from working with SGER. The adoption process was very thorough, quick, and fair. We adopted an adorable small puppy, which must have been in high demand. Our application was prioritized because it was one of the first received. After being selected, we were given a preferred pick up date so that the litter could leave together.
When picking up, Heather had our pup ready to go at the gate with paperwork and food. The pup is well tempered and in very good health.

When I began my search to adopt a dog my original intent was to adopt from a local shelter. A close friend of mine was also looking to adopt and introduced me to SGER, as I did more research I completely fell in love with Heather and her mission - that there was no animal too sick or too broken to deserve a chance at life and finding a forever home. Knowing this I knew I wanted nothing more than to support Heather and her rescue, I’m now going on two months with my new puppy and every time I look at her I know I helped make even the tiniest bit of a difference. At the beginning of this Pandemic, we had a heartbreaking loss when our family dog, Genie, of 12 years suddenly got sick and died. My youngest daughter had taken Genie off to college with her earlier in the year. She was heartbroken and lost without her Genie. After about 3 months, she was ready to open her heart up to a new love. After doing a lot of searching on our own and not finding the right fit, I asked a friend for suggestions. She immediately put me in contact with Heather at SGER. Heather listened to our needs and intuitively knew she had the perfect new love for us. In less than 2 weeks we brought our new love, Foxy, home and now we can’t imagine life without her. What I love about Heather is she is committed to finding her animals not just homes, but the right homes. Her love for the animals she serves is inspiring. I was moved to changed my Amazon charity to SGER after my experience and following Heather and her journey. I hope our Foxy is with us for many years, but when and if we have a spot for a new love, SGER will be my go to.

SGER took in my moms dog for close to two months when she was put in the hospital and given 48 hours to live (she still kicking and going strong to this day) , and my brother passed right around that time as well. My husband and I were in a bind at the time and needed help and SGER was the only ones willing to take her in! When my mom pulled through and was well enough to take care of her dog again, we were able to get her with no issues. SGER was a life saver when we needed help and no one else would. They kept us updated and constantly sent us pictures to let us know how my moms dog was doing.
Heather at SGER puts her heart and soul into her animals. We adopted one of her rescues and had him transported all the way up to Maine to us. I was a little nervous about adopting a puppy before even meeting him but he is EXACTLY as she described him and he is the perfect addition to our family. We are beyond happy to have our Jasper here in our family. We would adopt from SGER again in a heartbeat. She really takes great care above and beyond and has a huge heart.
I met Heather through a friend and I’m so glad I did! Heather has saved so many lives and I was fortunate enough to adopt a dog from her. Her selflessness in giving to all of these animals is some thing this world needs more of. The dog I rescued is one of the best dogs I have ever owned. I have know Heather for years. She is the most selfless person I know. As a single mother, she supports her daughter first and foremost, then all of her time is spent helping and saving any animal in need. She spends sleepless nights bottle feeding orphans, spends sometimes hours and days rescuing abandoned, starving animals. Heather has built this rescue from nothing but heart and a desire to help those that no one else would.
I have followed Heathers rescue page for a couple of months or so now. I love how she posts pic of each animal she gets in her rescue. She'll post pics of what they look like when they gets there, and post pics as she goes along nursing them back to health. The final results are amazing to see ! They don't look like the same animals. You can see the light in their eyes when she gets through with them. They look like happy, loved animals ! They are lucky to have her love and care for them. She is truly amazing at what she does. I'm obsessed with watching how she transforms scared, broken animals into happy, loving animals. She is definitely at the top of my best people list, and I'd recommend her and her rescue to everyone !
This group, Heather Gravitt, does an OUTSTANDING job rescuing and re-homing precious animals. She works to very hard healing and restoring their trust in humans after they had experienced cruel and in-human treatment at the hands of those who were suppose to protect and care for them.
Heather Gravitt should be highly commended for her dedication to give and find safe and happy homes for her rescues. She has sent pets all across this nation and all her rescues are living their very best lives.

SGER is the best rescue hands down! You will not find anyone that puts more of themselves into rescuing animals than Heather Gavitt! She has the best heart, and it truly shows in every animal that crosses her path. Seven years ago she put her own time and money into helping me get my horse back to great health, expecting nothing in return. She is always willing to help in any way, no matter the hour of day/night, and never expects anything in return. I’ve never met anyone like her, and seven years later still can’t understand how she does all that she does. To put it lightly she’s an amazing blessing to animals and friends.
