This is the old saying about the blind leading the the blind. The leaders are not all sight limited. They must feed off the devotion and perseverance of those who are.
Our story is about my nearly totally blind wife's efforts to assist another non-profit, the local Odd Fellows lodge #26 with their needs, particularly review and update of the lodge's By-laws. It takes her considerable time and effort to read over and write her contributions with only two magnifiers, one a small, hand-held that shows only three or four words of text in the screen at a time.
The staff of our blind center is taking time and effort to get her support to purchase a magnifier that will show her the width of a full page and make her volunteer effort so much more productive and rewarding. We are most appreciative of their assistance.

Great people! Good support. Good clearing house for helpful information. Wonderful trivia night. Very knowledgeable director. Really appreciate the attention paid to planning so many recreational pursuits. Love the lunch and learn activities.

The South East Community Center of the Blind has been a wonderful go-to place for those who need essential services relating to low-vision or blindness! They provide workshops and classes to enhance life skills, social, recreational, and educational services. They assist those with low-vision or blindness to attain and maintain an independent lifestyle. I have enjoyed being a part of this organization and have been serving as a Board Member since 2004.

The SE CT Community Center of the Blind is a wonderful organization in New London that is dedicated to the Blind and Visually Impaired population of southeastern CT. I have been a member and volunteer of this organization for over 40 years. They go above and beyond to assist their members with transportation needs, monthly activities, and dinners.
