Mission: SCCS was founded in 1977 by a small group of parents and community volunteers who wanted South Coast children to have the same educational, recreational and cultural opportunities available to children in the urban areas "over the hill". The first fund-raiser was a bake sale that netted $300 to start SCCS on its way. With generous support from private foundations, government grants and community donations, SCCS has evolved into a stable and respected community -based organization that funds and/or administers a wide variety of programs serving the young people of the South Coast. In 1999 SCCS administered $223,534.00 in grants.
Programs: Various programs which include arts, music, science, computers, summer rec programs, etc. . . . To provide basic skill and knowledge to elementary and high school students and children in the local and surrounding communities.
thrift shop- sale of donated items to provide funding for the above programs as well as funding scholarships and grants according to articles of incorporation.
