Programs: The early childhood education (ece) program provided 61 children ages 0-5 (39 preschoolers, 23 infants and toddlers) with 602 ece hours (or approximately a total of almost 40,000 ece hours) of developmentally appropriate curriculum to prepare them for kindergarten. Results of pre and post-program assessments (drdp-2015) revealed that children ages 3-5 showed significant developmental gains, as measured by their advancement to the top three (out of 9)developmental levels in each domain (pre-post): language/literacy (0% - 85%) self-regulation (9% - 92%),social-emotional (11%-90%), math (0% - 85%), physical (20%-92%), these children, who are all english-language learners, showed major gains in english language development, with the percentage in the top two (our of 6) levels of this domain risinng from 9% to 74%. By year's end, an increased number had also developed kindergarten readiness, such as writing their name (25% - 6%), using scissors correctly without assistance (75% - 100%), counting to 20 (6% - 56%), and recognizing all or most letters (19% - 59%)
the parent education program delivered 185. 5 hours of programming focused on strengthening the self-reliance and self-confidence of 41 women (or almost 8,000 hours of parenting), by providing classes in topics such as child development, school choices, healthy eating and leadership skills. the english as second language program (esl) provided 48 women (41 currently in the parenting program and 7 graduates) with 493. 5 hours of esl (or a total of 24,000 hours of esl). Of the 41 students with a pre- and post test, 83% made a gain. Of those who made a gain, 88% acheived significant gains by reaching their goal or beyond.
