Direct beneficiaries per year: Gave out $12,750 in Live Your Dream Awards and honored our eleven recipients at a beautiful virtual event, Awarded selected graduating high school girls for overcoming obstacles with $500 iMatter scholarships, totaling $5,000, Supported a female medical student in Kenya by paying the $700 fees to enable her to complete her last two years of medical school, Made a $1000 club contribution to the SIA Cheri Fleming memorial fund, and so much more!
Programs: Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women - Helping women transform their lives and live their dreams! Soroptimist International Simi Valley has been economically empowering women with the Live Your Dream Awards since 2015. Every year, more than $2 million in education grants are awarded to nearly 1,500 women through Soroptimist International, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, and/or drug and alcohol abuse.
Dream It, Be It: Helping girls grow to be confident, successful, happy adults! Dream It, Be It provides girls the guidance and resources they need to achieve their goals. In the first three years since its inception, Dream It, Be It has reached more than 20,000 girls in 14 countries and territories through Soroptimist Internatinal. Girls come out with more confidence, new tools to overcome obstacles, and achievable goals for their future.
iMatter: Overcoming obstacles education grants. Soroptimist International Simi Valley annually awards college scholarships to assist female graduating seniors who will be pursuing higher education or training.
I Will Not Be Sold: Human Trafficking Awareness Event: How can you protect your children and others in our community from the horrors of human trafficking? How can you spot victims, so law enforcement can rescue them and get them the help they need. Soroptimist International Simi Valley hosts an awareness event annually.
