When my family moved to Spartanburg in 2016, Sonshine Club was the first resource that we heard about for adults with special needs. One word comes to mind when I think of Sonshine Club, Love. My son loves it and I love that he is loved and learning about God’s love while there.
Brian, Dawn, Larry, and Tammy, along with so many volunteers devote so much of their time to not only Sonshine Club but also to plan and organize Tim Tebow’s Night To Shine.
Sonshine Club is such a blessing to my family, my son, and all of our special friends.
The SonShine Club is such a blessing to be a part of. The ministry focuses on serving a much needed, and often forgotten, group in our community - adults with special needs (a.k.a. our "friends"). The bible lessons, music, activities, and volunteers create a wonderful atmosphere for fellowship among our friends. It also provides respite time for the parents and caregivers and a safe space for the friends to get out and enjoy themselves. The club meets twice per month on Saturdays and a fun time is had by all at each meeting!
Hello, my name is Lynn Crisp. My daughter is Amber. She is 37 years old, and has down syndrome. We started going to the sonshine club in 2015. I also volunteer. We look so forward to seeing all of our special friends. Larry McCullough, and Brian Harris are 2 amazing people! The way they interact with all of our friends, and the worship service they provided is awesome!! If you ever come and visit, it will be the most amazing day of your life. The smiles and hugs that we share!! Amber enjoys it very much!! She loves it so much, she would rather got to sonshine club, than on vacation! That says a lot!! We hope to see you soon! Come join us, and see what we are all about!
Sonshine club is the best club in this world. My son has been a member for years and loves the club. Twice a month I drop him off and I have 5 hours toyswlf which is so needed when you have a special needs son or daughter. The volunteers and founders Larry and Tammy , and Pastor Brian and Dawn are exceptional people with big hearts, praise God for these wonderful people.
Sonshine Club is without a doubt, a gift from God to our daughter Jenni. We've lived in many places but came home to Spartanburg in retirement so she could take advantage of all they offer. It makes her world so much better. The leaders and volunteers are an inspiration to any parent of a special needs child. Their mission is love.
I’ve been involved with SonShine Club for several years. I volunteered wanting to give back but they bless me instead! I look forward to each Super Saturday and to see their smiling faces. The impact this ministry has on the special needs community is such a blessing. Great things are happening here!
