Causes: Arts & Culture, Music

Mission: SongFarm is a coalition of musicians, educators, and businesses who work collaboratively to enable music creation programs in high schools. These studios give students access to professional music equipment at their own schools, in the context of their own classes. They also provide music educators with the equipment and technology that are requisite to teaching students modern skill sets for music and film industries. SongFarm is committed to providing ongoing curricula, mentorship, and an alumni network that connects all SongFarm participants in the learning process.

I give to SongFarm because I know 100% of the proceeds enable underfunded schools to provide a creative outlet for students. Music is important, and school needs to be more than academics. Now more than ever these kids need to love going to school, and feel supported to create.

rachelsongfarm 09/12/2020 "Kids need to love going to school." We couldn't agree more. At a time in which school looks different and kids feel disconnected (and too often unsuccessful), we want to make sure that kids feel empowered when they think of their own education. Thank you for your support, your understanding, and your time in leaving a response.

The concept behind this charity is fantastic-- connect successful musicians to communities in need (including the communities they grew up in). Everything we do now to decrease the barriers children face to learning will have positive ripple effects in the future.

Happy to donate here because it’s something I know from personal experience can make a huge difference in a young person’s life. Music is a wonderful outlet that can provide lifelong benefit. Putting the gift of it where it is needed most is invaluable, and I love the way these guys go about accomplishing it.

Thank you for understanding the heart behind what we do. So many of the musicians we work with can point back to someone musical in their childhood who made a difference for them. We're trying to create those opportunities for the next generation.

A wonderful organization doing fantastic things for underprivileged children! Rachel and her team are top tier and have set up such a fantastic program that reaches out to so many kids that want to get their foot in the door musically and wouldn't be able to otherwise. They are professional and easy to deal with to boot!

As an educator, with over 20 years of experience, I believe we can do better for our students. We’ve lost sight of what’s really important with the implementation of high-stakes testing. It’s sad when we are more concerned about test scores than developing well rounded citizens. In addition, schools are asked to do more with less, and as a result it’s the students who lose. As performance expectations increase and budgets get smaller, inevitably something has to give. Often, it’s the arts and other programs that don’t directly show up on test scores that get cut (or severely underfunded) first.
The opportunities that these programs provide students to show their unique talents are just as important. SongFarm is a nonprofit organization that looks to fill this need for students and enhance what the schools can provide. By removing financial (and social) barriers SongFarm gives students the opportunity to discover their musical gifts. I believe the reason SongFarm has been successful is due to the ongoing support they provide the educators, not just the equipment they can supply. Connecting students and teachers with the resources and mentors provide opportunities that will be life changing to many.

First and foremost, thank YOU for your dedication to our children, in one of the most challenging professions out there. You make a difference every day, and we couldn't create opportunities for students without teachers like you on the front lines as their champions. Thank you, secondly, for taking the time to reach out and support our cause. We hope to make the kids you see every day feel even more success and inspiration within your classrooms. Keep fighting the good fight. We're in your corner.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with SoundFarm and specifically with their Executive Director, Rachel. From beginning to end of our project, every conversation and transaction was pleasant, professional, and productive. That said, I never felt like I was ever merely a project to her or SoundFarm at any point; Rachel went out of her way to make sure my every need was fulfilled, and even provided moral support as needed throughout! I would absolutely recommend working with them, and hope to again myself someday soon!

Songfarm is providing a much-needed service to the next generation of musicians. Ensuring access to the arts, and specifically music, is important to the development of our young people.
Having access to instruments, instruction, and inspiration has made a profound difference in my own children. Songfarm is providing the building blocks to a better future for the next generation.

Thank you for all your hard work in education, Sam! SongFarm couldn't make a difference for kids without the unwavering support of educators. We know this year is challenging, and we are so grateful for your work with kids.

Songfarm breathes new life into our communities by empowering and strengthening a new generation. Music is the fabric that holds together the heart and aspirations of our future. It allows young people to express themselves, it welcomes abundance, and it strengthens confidence among ones very life and well- being. I will always support this cause for the health of our communities and the amazing music we will all enjoy because of it. Music saves lives and so does this non-profit.

Love Songfarm!

Creative outlets for children are becoming few and far between, especially in a world with such division between classes in our society.

These guys are fantastic - giving kids the tools they need to be exposed to the arts in a way they normally wouldn't be.

The world could use more Songfarm these days.

I had the fortune of attending a fundraising concert for SongFarm in September. The talent was unprecedented, but the most beautiful part of the night was hearing the stories of each musician there, as well as one of the musician’s high school teachers. Music education matters, and SongFarm is working hard to provide music technology to the kids who need it most.

We're so happy you were able to be present for our first fundraiser! In times like these, it's hard to even remember what an intimate concert like the one at the Bluebird was. Those funds are going straight to building 4+ new studios this year. Thank you for your time, your support, and your feedback!

Songfarm is a non profit that we can truly get behind. They bring the gift of music to those who may not otherwise have a real opportunity to pursue it. Music is very powerful. It can make such a big impact on a persons life. Providing the resources necessary for those less fortunate to learn and grow in music and give a positive outlet for their time and talents could have great effects on lives and communities.

Thank you so much for your feedback. That positive outlet is exactly what we're trying to create for kids. Every child deserves the opportunity to create -- the opportunity to look forward to school. We appreciate your time and insight!
