My son is 12 years old and he has autism. He has been attending SSNY functions of years and still enjoys them and looks forward to it every month. SSNY is a wonderful organization that give kids with special needs a chance to "hang out" and work on crafts or play games with a really nice high school volunteer "buddy". The buddy's are always so patient and kind to him and always make him feel important. We are very greatful for the organization, it also gives me a chance to talk to other parents and share stories and experiences of being a parent of a special needs kid. Then of course there is my 11 year old daughter, she is typical but still enjoys attending the functions, she looks forward to being a volunteer buddy when she gets to high school.
